Back in April I had the pleasure of attending a Stampin' Up! Regional Seminar in Seattle. Now this was the first actual "Stampin' Up!" Event that I have ever attended where THE SHELLI GARDNER was going to be at! Yes I AM one of THOSE people LOL! You know who I am talking about- the crazy ladies that BLOG STALK and "know" who are all the most talented stampers out there are. So you can imagine me when I got to actually meet the co founder of Stampin' Up! Let's just say I didn't let any one down and absolutely made a babbling fool out of myself LOL! The card above is the other swap that I brought with me to the event. I figure now is a good time to show it as it features most of the current in colours, a stamp set and wheel from the Occasions mini. Remember all six of the current in colours and the beautiful Occasions Mini Catalogue finish at the end of this month.
Now back to the card. I had an idea to make a birthday card for a child using this set, but to be honest I was a little stumped at first. You see I don't enjoy a lot of cutting out shapes when it comes to card making-call me lazy but doing lots of intricate cutting around different stamped images is not my idea of a good time! I just like to think I don't enjoy it because I am a "tiny" bit of a perfectionist and it takes me forever to cut things out. I loved this stamp set from the moment I saw it in the mini but I soon discovered that the train cars looked best together when cut or punched out. So for my card I decided to just use the engine image as my focal point. I stamped it in real red punched it out with the 1 3/4 circle punch, then layered it on top of Basic Gray and Textured Kiwi Kiss cardstock. I love the standard track wheel too- it just works perfectly with this set . Can you just imagine the Birthday invites and scrapbook pages you could make with both of these?! (Rumor has it that they are in the new Cattie, SHHHHHHHHHH!)
