It's Sunday so that means another fantastic challenge at The Paper Players and this week our hostess with the mostest Nance has come up with a fantastic sketch! Sketches are such a fabulous way to jump start your creativity so we hope you will find the time to play with us this week!
On a side note, just wanted to let you all know that I will be back to posting my regular 3-4 times a week starting this week. I am finally starting to feel better after being on 3 different perscriptions for almost a week now! Turns out not only did I have a nasty sinus infection but also I also ended up with a bad chest cough too:(
After not stamping for over a week I must admit I struggled a little when I finally sat down to make this card and in the end I still do not love it but it will just have to do:) It was fun though to do some sponging and spritzing again as a lot of my cards lately have been more on the CAS side. I started with a Crumb Cake base then sponged all the edges with Soft Suede Ink. For the large layered piece I used the gorgeous Attic Boutique Designer Series Paper from the current Occasion Mini (only available until April 30). I started with a piece of the Pool Party patterned DSP and then cut a piece from one of the other patterns and added some Soft Suede Textured card stock that had been punched out with the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch. Before adding this to the card base I embossed it with the Vintage Wallpaper Impressions Folder to give some added texture and interest. I then also sponged over the raised areas to create more definition.
The layered scallops were created using Pool Party Card stock and another pattern of DSP from Attic Boutique and were punched using the Scallop Edge Border Punch. I then wrapped around some Crumb Cake Seam Binding and tied it into a bow. For the sentiment I used the word "mom" Family Reunion and stamped it inside on of the frames from Four Frames. As a final touch I used my Colour Spritzer Tool and a Soft Suede Marker to add just a little more "umph" to the card.
The ladies at The Paper Players have really created some gorgeous samples for you so be sure to stop by and see what they came up with and we would love to have you join in on this weeks challenge!

Jenn, so glad that you are starting to feel better. That was a double whammy you were dealing with! I love your soft, subtle take on the sketch. All that gorgeous texture!
Hugs

Jenn, I am happy you are starting to feel like yourself again! Being sick is NO fun at all! Your card is beautiful this week...as your cards always are. I love the way you used the punch to create the border and the soft, shabby-tastic colors. The embossing is the perfect touch. Feel better!! Big hugs! :)
