Easter Blossoms-The Heat is On SR#65

 This week at Stampin' Royalty we are challenging you to pull out your big guns-Heat Guns that is! Time to do a little Heat Embossing:) Like I mentioned a few days ago, I rarely use my Heat tool any more now that I have my Big Shot for dry embossing, but there is just so much you can do with heat embossing that you just can't with embossing folders so I have been having a lot of fun lately using my embossing powders again.

This card is pretty clean in a vintage-y shabby chic sort of way. (Okay so really not sure if that is even a style but I don't know how else to explain this card :) Gasp, I only used three main colours Baja Breeze, Pink Pirouette and River Rock. Both the Blossom image and the sillouette of the little girl have been stamped with Versamark then covered in Clear Embosing Powder. I used some Soft Suede Ink to sponge on the card base and the tag.
   
I also used my Cutter Kit to rough up the edges of the tag image just a little and crumpled the paper a bit.
 
Supplies used: Baja Breeze, River Rock, Soft Suede, and Pink Pirouette Card stock. First Edition DSP, Heat tool and Clear Embossing Powder, Versamark, Soft Suede Ink, Bitty Punch Pack, Pearls, Curly Label Punch, Dotted Ribbon Border Punch, Victoria Crochet Trim, Vintage Trinkets and Cutter Kit.

I am BACK with Some Ice Parlor Fun!

Yes it is true, I have my computer back :) It is amazing to realize how much I actually rely on having it, and how much I miss out on not being able to email or blog. Any who, I have it now and I will be spending the day playing catch up on over a week's worth of work!

So I thought I would share with you today the project we made at my stamp club meeting.

 I wanted to focus on the Build a Blossom stamp set and matching Blossom Petals Punch and also use the super fun Ice Cream Palor DSP and Quick Accents Pack and matching Ribbon and Button Pack (which you can get for FREE during Sale a bration with your qualifying purchase). These colours are so bright and cherry I thought it would be a a great pick me up from the winter blahs. I actually cased the card from one I had made previously and my club ladies loved it so I recreated it for them just using different colours.
 
The box was created using the Petal Cone Die, we just cut the bottom off, snipped and scored so that it would have a flat bottom. The card stock is Peach Parfait and it was stamped in the co ordinating ink using the Eat Chocolate Stamp Set. The Melon Mambo Pompom Trim was attached using Sticky strip. I just love the little "To Do List" image in this set! It was inked up with  Early Espresso and Melon Mambo Markers. Then to add a bit of interest the top was punched using the Spiral Border Punch, then to finish it off I added a Mini Library Clip, some ribbon and a button from the Ice Cream Palor Pack.
 

 
The card is also has a pocket inside, perfect for holding a gift card, money or a special note. The base started as a 4x12 piece of Melon Mambo Textured Card stock then was scored at 4 and 8 then the center panel was scored on an angle to create the pocket. The front was decorated using Not Quite Navy card stock, the Peach Parfait DSP from the Ice Palor pack, and a small strip of the polka dot pattern from the Ice Cream Palor Accents (these are die cut and ready to adhere). For the flower petals I used Whisper White card stock and Daffodil Delight Ink. The leaves are Old Olive. The center button is from the Spring time Vintage Big Designer Buttons and I just threaded some Not Quite Navy card stock through the holes and wrapped the edge with that yummy Pompom trim. The sentiment is from Bring on the Cake. Puns from the Past-Sew Glad We're Friends

This upcoming Saturday I will be attending a Stampin' Up! regional seminar, right here in Vancouver, BC! I am so excited and I know that it will be tons of fun. So I wanted to make a few swap cards but I was challenged with two problems: 1. I hate making mutiples of the same card and 2. I have a REALLY hard time trying to keep things simple enough to mass produce. Solution?- I came up with 2 very different designs and I am only going to make about 20 of each :)

Here is the one that I am sharing today:

  
For this card I started with a Cherry Cobbler base then layered on a piece of Confetti White card stock that had been sponged and wheeled with the Friendly Words Jumbo Wheel. The main image was stamped using Early Espresso ink and is from the Puns From the Past Stamp set.I matted it on Soft Suede Card stock and crumbled up both layers then smoothed them out.
The fabric is just a small strip from the Deck the Halls Designer Fabric (which IS still available-yeah!) and I also cut out some cute little paper buttons in Crumb Cake, Always Artichoke and Cherry Cobbler using the new Sweet Buttons Embosslit.To finish it off I used a Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch to create a delicate scalloped edge. I love the way this card turned out and hopefully those swapping with me will too:)

Petal Cone Party Time!

I was so excited to see that my project has now been posted to the Oh My Word UStamp with Dawn and Friends site, so now I can finally share it here! I have been sitting on this project for over a month and am quite pleased with how it turn out. This is just one of the 40+ projects with PDF instructions that will be shared during the current session of UStamp. The projects are amazing so be sure to check out all the info here and sign up if you would like to receive step by step photo instructions to this project.

Wouldn't this make such a quick cute birthday treat or even a party favour?! I just love how versatile the Petal Cone die is.

Love Life

Yay, I got a little stamping time today and was able to have some fun combining some challenges! I LOVE Stacey's colour challenges at Curtain Call, the SUO challenge blog is having a fun Wheel challenge and I was finally able to play along at the amazing Our Creative Corner where they are challenging you to "Cut it Out".

 
 Here's my card:

So I at first wasn't sure about this card and really did not have a clear idea of what I was going to make when I sat down to stamp (actually truth be told I almost always stand when I am stamping:). I knew I really wanted to create a flower with the new SU! Exclusive Fun Flowers Die by Sizzix, so I cut two of the shapes from Whisper White Textured Card stock then sprayed them with Shimmer Mist (Platinum Shimmer Paint mixed with Alcohol) and crumpled them up. Once dry I sponged them with Cherry Cobbler and wheeled Crumb Cake ink on with the Very Vintage Wheel (I also used this wheel on the Real Red card base).  The main Whisper White piece as well as the punched Crumb Cake Dotted Ribbon Border, were dry embossed using the Vintage Wallpaper Impressions Folder.

In the center of the flower I added a Crumb Cake Button and a Trinket Key. I knew that I wanted to add leave but in keeping with the colour challenge I did not want to add green. So I punched out 2 leaves using the Blossoms Petal Punch from Very Vanilla and again I used my wheel to created some interest. Next I used my Paper Crimper to add a little "life" to them.


 
Now here is where all the cutting comes in! I am not good at cutting things out, so I don't do it very often but like I said earlier I was excited to finally have the time to play along with the OCC challenge. The flowers are from BLISS (a Sale a Bration stamp set) and I stamped them in Real Red, Cherry Cobbler and I also inked it with Real Red then Rocked it in Cherry Cobbler to create a multi coloured effect. I added 3 Pearl Jewels. The sentiment was inked using markers and is from the set You're a Gem.

Queen for the Day

Today's post will be quick, but all I can say is thank goodness it is Friday! We have had a long week around here with everyone getting the stomach flu:(  Yuck! One after the other we all fell victim it starting with the youngest-I am just glad that we have 4 bathrooms in our house! But at least one good thing came out of it-my house is REALLY clean now,LOL! I went a little over board with the bleach and lysol, I DO NOT want to get sick again.

I had made this card for a swap that I was in with some demonstrators from our local group. We always have such a great time at our quarterly meetings, and it was so great seeing everyone and demonstrations were fantastic.

Have Heart -Stampin' Royalty #58

This week we have a fun Theme challenge for you at Stampin' Royalty! We are asking you to create a project where the main focus is HEARTS. And with Valentines Day less than a week away this should be an easy one :)

I created a thank you card and a cute sweet treat that would be a perfect little token of appreciation for anyone.

 For the card I started with an Early Espresso base and using the Small Heart Punch, I punched out the bottom right corner to create a little heart window. Then using my Paper Piercer I pierced holes around the shape.  
I then used the Tasteful Trim Die to cut out the large scallops from Textured Real Red Card stock. The heart papttern paper is from the Play date DSP and was matted onto Crumb Cake. I also used a strip of the DSP inside the card so it would be seen through the heart punch out. The Early Espresso heart was die cut using the Scalloped Heart of Hearts Embosslit, the glittery heart was punched out using the Full Heat Punch and Red Glimmer Paper. I of course had to add ribbon, so I ruffled some Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon. The sentiment is actually two stamps from the Fabulous Pharses set (I love the font) and it was punched out using the Curly Label Punch, then I attached a Heart Bitty Button.

 
For the little treat holder I used the Two Tags Die and a 3 x 8 1/2" piece of card stock folded in half. I placed the folded end just above the bottom of the tag shape so that the fold would not be cut. The Hershey's Miniture was attached with a Mini Glue Dot and I tied the holder shut with 1/8" Very Vanilla Taffeta Ribbon. The word Enjoy is from the stamp set Your a Gem in the Occasions Mini Catalogue.

Fun With Stampin' Up! Fabric

Pals Paper Arts is having a fun challenge this week- create a CAS card with a bow being the focus. Well I knew that I wanted to showcase the great new accessories from the Occasions Mini Catalogue at this months Stamp Club. And what better ways to show off Stampin' Up's fabulous Fabric then making it the focal point of a fresh fun card, (especially for some one like me who doesn't sew-YET :)

Here is the card I came up with:

I started with a River Rock card stock base then attached the striped pattern from the Spring Time Vintage Designer Series paper that I had stamped with the blossom image from the Easter Blossoms set in River Rock Classic Ink. Next I ran it through my Big Shot with the NEW Framed Tulips Impressions Folder. The raised border was then gently sanded to reaveal some of the white core in the DSP. The girl sillouette image is from the same stamp set and was inked up using River Rock and stamped on the largest Oval from the Ovals Die.  
I then used a strip of fabric from the Springtime Vintage Designer Fabric (cut about 1inch wide)
and tied it around the card. Before I tied it into a knot I put a piece of LinenThread in the center of where I was going to finish the knot. This way it would be secured into place so that when I added my button to it the button would not slip, and would stay centered. I used a Night of Navy button from the Springtime Vintage Big Designer Buttons. For the sentiment I stamped it in Night of Navy then punched it out using the Decorative Label Punch. To create a smaller label I just reinserted it into the punch. Sherri Barron has a great video showing how to do this.

Rub-On Some Love

Wow has a week really gone by since I last posted? I am happy to report that my hand is on the mend and I was able to get some stamping done over the past few days, which means more posts this week :)

I am also happy to report that we have a great sketch challenge for you this week at Stampin' Royalty. This was a fun CAS sketch but I just love how different all the DT cards turn out. Be sure to check them out for some awesome inspiration.

 Guess what?-there is absolutely no stamping on here! I used the new Love Impressions Rub Ons from the Occasions Mini Catalogue. They are so fun and easy to use. Although this card is very Claen and Simple I wanted to give it a little "pop" so I actually applied all of the Rub ons to Pink Pirouette Card stock first then cut them out and attached the ballon and white cloud with Dimensionals.

The card base is Basic Gray, I then layered on some Whisper White that had been embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots Impressions Folder and my Big shot.  The strip of DSP is from the Play Date Designer Series Paper Pack and I used the Spiral Punch for the fun decorative edge. The main image layer was matted and for a touch of embelishment I used a Library clip from the Clips Assortment and a small piece of Real Read 1/4" Grograin Ribbon.
And it wouldn't be a proper Valentine with out a glimmery red heart! (I sooo love the new Glimmer Paper)
 They are also having a Valentine Challenge over on the SU-Only Blog (and I really can't resist a good challenge) so I just had to combine the two!

Build a Blossom Challenge SR #54

It is Wednesday and that means another great challenge over at Stampin' Royalty. Last week week we celebrated our 1st Birthday and it was great checking out everyone's fabulous entries, I hope you will find the time to join us this week for a fantastic Colour Challenge.

 
 I must admit I found it a little tricky working with only three main colours but I am please with the end result and hope you are too :) So yesturday I blogged that I had made a list of things that I wanted to become better at and shared a few of them with you. Another one of them that is stamping related is to start challenging myself to do more challenges. So I combined these FAB colours with an amazing sketch from Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch. Both took me a little out of my comfort zone but that is what challenges are all about!

 
I started with an Old Olive card base and layered on some Concord Crush DSP (from the Level 1 Hostess pack). Using the new SU! exclusive 3 1/2"  Sizzix Circle Die and my Big shot I cut out a circle in Concord Crush. I of course HAD to use the Build a Blossom set and coordinating Blossom Petals Punch to create a Marina Mist flower for the main image. (*TIP when I create these flowers I first punch out a 1" Circle then arrange the petals on it,attaching with Mini Glue Dots) I used my Bone Folder to slightly curl my petals.
For the center of the flower I used the super fun new Fabric Designer Brads. I pleated some Marina Mist Taffeta Ribbon along some matching card stock that had been die cut with the SU! ExclusiveTasteful Trims Die. Because the flower is such a large focal point I decide to use a very small and simple setiment "smile" from the Fabulous Phrases (I LUV this font) and punch it out with The Jewlery Tag Punch.
