Celebrating with The Paper Players

This week at The Paper Players we are having a Theme challenge and the incredibly talented Nance is our hostess. The theme this week is Celebrating Mothers. I think this challenge is a great one as Mother's Day is only a week away but also it is the perfect opportunity to celebrate and reconize any important woman in your life that has helped to influence and support you.

I decided to create a card for my grandmother. I am so fortunate to still have her in my life and she will be celebrating her 90th birthday in July! She is an incredibly strong amazing woman and I love her very much. Using flowers for this card was an obvious choice and so was using some of my favourite retiring colours and accessories. I chose a colour combination of Peach Parfait (retiring), Daffodil Delight, Wild Wasabi and a small touch of Concord Crush (retiring) for the sentiments. The base of the card is Natural Ivory, then I added a large piece of Wild Wasabi Textured card stock (all textured card stock will retire at the end of May!) that had been embossed with the Elegant Lines Impressions Folder.

The flowers were created using the set Mixed Bunched and the matching Blossoms Punch (both will be carrying over the the new Catalogue come June 1st-YAY!) I stamped the image 3 times on Very Vanilla card stock; once with Daffodil Delight, once with Peach Parfait and for the third I used both colours and used the Rock and Roll techique. I know I have said time and time again that I LOVE ribbon, but I truly am obsessed with the gorgeous Wide Striped Grosgrain and sadly all colours in this style of ribbon will be gone too:( So for this card I decided to use a big piece of the Wild Wasabi and tie a giant bow. For an extra pop of contrast I also added a scalloped piece of Peach Parfait that was die cut and embossed using the Adorning Accents Edgelit and Impressions Folder.  As a finishing touch I stamped the word "grandma " from Family Reunion and added a tiny die cut butterfly.

Loving Thoughts of Mixed Bunch

Wow, I can not believe that it is the last day of April! Sadly that means the last day for the Stampin' Up! Occasions Mini Catalogue:( I was just going through some photos on my computer and realized there are a whole bunch of projects that I have not shared here yet. So I thought I would post the following samples as they all use some of my favourite items from the mini.

The above two cards use Mixed Bunch and Loving Thoughts stamp sets as well as the gorgeous Twitterpated DSP, Blossom Builders Printed Kit and Blossom Punch.

This card focuses on the same stamp sets and DSP. I created the banner using the Petite Pennants Builder Punch.

This projects was created again using the Mixed Bunch and Loving Thoughts stamp sets as well as the gorgeous Twitterpated DSP, Blossom Builders Printed Kit and Petite Pocket Die.

All Twitterpated with The Paper Players

Happy Sunday everyone! Hope you are all enjoying you weekend thus far. It's bonus week at The Paper Players so that means Anything Goes, and THE amazing Lesley is our hostess and she has created an Anything Goes with a special twist-TIC TAC TOE!  Such a fun challenge, you choose any three in a row...across, down, diagonally and then incorporate those items into you card. I went with a Square Card, Ribbon and Designer Paper.

Wow I can not believe we are almost at the end of April! That means that all those gorgeous produts in the Occasions Mini Catalogue will becoming to an end so I just had to use the beautiful Twitterpated DSP for my card. I started with a Baja Breeze base then layered on a piece of Riding Hood Red Textured card stock (all textured card stock is on the retirement list :( so be sure to stock up if you love it as much as me!). Next I added a large piece of the floral patterned paper and then layered on a strip from the same DSP that was edge with the gorgeous Satin Ruffled Ribbon in Baja Breeze. I then tied around some Pear Pizzazz Seam Binding-oh how I LOVE ribbon!

For the main image I used the Apothacary Art stamp set (again from the Occasions Mini) and I am really hoping to see this set in the main catalogue come June 1st! I stamped the image using Blushing Bride-one of my absolute favourites from the retiring In Colours then hand cut out around the image, and layered it on a piece of Island Indigo that was die cut using one of the Label Framelits. The sentiment is from Family Reunion and I dressed it up a little by adding some Basic Pearl Jewels and a Blushing Bride punched flower.

Happy I Do Day!

Today we have a great challenge at Stampin' Royalty - MONOCHROMATIC! We would like you to create a project using a monochromatic colour scheme. There are so many possibilities but as soon as I saw this challenge I knew I wanted to do white on white-I know so creative, LOL!

I started with a base of Shimmery White card stock as it is very sturdy and so pretty then layered on a piece of Whisper White that had been embossed with the Elegant Lines Impressions Folder. For the sentiment I used one from the stamp set Word Play. I stamped it on the Shimmery White card stock punched it out with the 1 3/4" Circle Punch then backed it on to a Brushed Silver circle that was cut out using the Circle #2 Die and to add just a little "sparkle" I added a small Rhinestone Jewel to the ring:)

Now here is the fun part of the card; I ruffled some White Waffle Paper ( available in the Occasions Mini Catalogue and only until the end of April!) along a piece of Sticky Strip then tied some gorgeous White Organza Ribbon around it! I just love how this adds more dimension and texture to the card.

Getting Sketchy with Packed for Baby

It' Tuesday so that means time for another great sketch at Try Stampin' on Tuesday! Recently a good friend of mine asked me to make a baby card for a friend of hers that just had a sweet baby girl. I had been waiting for just the right opportunity to finally ink up my Packed for Everything Stamp Bundle (from the Occasions Mini Catalogue). So for this card the obvious choice was to use the Packed for Baby single stamp.

Now of course I created this sketch a while ago, and went from memory when I made my card. Apparently my memory is not that good as I totally forgot about the trio of embellishments on the bottom right corner,lol!

Oh my gosh, I so love these colours together! They just scream spring, fresh and new to me:) The base of the card is Crumb Cake, I then added a strip of Blushing Bride, Wisteria Wonder and Pool Party which all had been embossed using the Adorning Accents Textured Impression Folder. Aren't those hearts just too cute!?  For the main image I stamped it on Watercolour Paper using Stazon Ink. To watercolour it I used an Aqua Painter and several different Ink Pads. For the sentiment I used one from the very versitle set Friendly Phrases and inked it up using my Basic Black, Wisteria Wonder, Blushing Bride and Pool Party Markers. To finish it off I added a Daffodil Delight button (from the Brights Designer Buttons) that had been threaded with some Island Indigo Baker's Twine.

Building Happiness with Blossoms

So my plans of having a less hetic week have already flown out the window and it is only Wednesday,lol! Today and tonight I will be putting the finishing touches on my brother's wedding invites and I can't wait to show you how they turned out!

Wednesday means a new challenge at Stampin' Royalty and Tuesday meant a new challenge at Try Stampin' so with my very limited stamping time lately I combined the two:) This week at Stampin' Royalty we are celebrating Spring so I created and bright and happy card using the current sketch at Try Stampin' on Tuesday. I really hope you can find some stamping time to join in on one or both of these challenges, I would love to see what you have made!

Nothing says Springtime to me like bright blooming flowers! Here I used the Blossom Builders Designer Printed Kit to make my flowers. I LOVE this kit, there are so many options to layer and it has such a great colour combo of Rich Razzleberry, Poppy Parade, Blushing Bride, Daffodil Delight, Lucky Limeaide and Baja Breeze. Plus both the large and tiny Pink Rhinestones are included in the kit as well as some banner flags like the one I stamped my sentiment on. I used the stamp set Loving Thoughts-definately one of my favourites. For this card I started with a base of Natural Ivory then layered on a piece of Crumb Cake that had been embossed with the Stripes Textured Impressions Folder. I then added a thin strip of Rich Razzleberry Card stock and a pice of Poppy Parade DSP from the Just Add Cake Designer Series Paper pack.  I also added some buttons from the Brights Designer Buttons pack and used some Lucky Limeaide Bakers Twine to tie through them.

Sale A Brate with a Cup of Thanks

It's Tuesday so that means it's time for another great sketch at Try Stampin' on Tuesday! I think the sketch this week has so many possibilities. I actually based the sketch on a card layout that can be found on page 72 of Stampin' Up's current idea book and catalogue. I love flipping through the pages and being inspired by a layout or colour scheme. (Now I bet you all are pulling out you catalogues right now to see what card I am talking about,lol:)

I started with a base of Natural Ivory card stock then layered on two patterned strips from the Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper (only two and half weeks left to earn this gorgeous paper for FREE) and I also then added a scrap piece of Peach Parfait Poly Twill Ribbon. I stamped the main image on Very Vanilla card stock using Calypso Coral, Pool Party and Peach Parfait and then matted the image on to Pear Pizzazz card stock.

For the circle element of the sketch I created a flower using the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch. I then tied a double bow using Calypso Coral Organza Ribbon (from the Everyday Enchantment Ribbon and Brad bundle another FREE Sale A Bration choice) then put a Pool Party Polka Dot Designer Brad through the middle. To finish the card off I used a stamp from another FREE Sale A Bration item called Fresh Vintage, this image matches perefctly with one of the patterns in the DSP as well as the pattern on the center tea cup.

Colourful Loving Thoughts with The Paper Players

It's Sunday so that means it is time again for a great new challenge at The Paper Players. This week the amazingly talented Lesley has come up with a fabulous colour combo for us to work with.

Now I am not much of one for purple but I must say Wisteria Wonder is starting to grow on me:) and this colour combo is so pretty together.

I love the look and feel of textured card stock so I started with that for the base of my card. On the upper right corner I stamped the floral image from Elements of Style and it was nice to pull out that stamp set again as it was starting to collect a little dust. Of course then the card was spritzed using a Crumb Cake Marker and the Colour Spritzer Tool.

Next I layered on a piece of DSP from the Twitterpated Collection and added a decorative edge of Wisteria Wonder that was created using the new Adorning Accents Edgelits Dies and Impressions Folders. I then tied around some gorgeous Pear Pizzazz Seam Binding. It was also fun to finally pull out one of the Hat Pins that I have been hoarding and add three punched flowers to it.

The main image is from the stamp set Apothecary Art. I stamped two of the images tone on tone then die cut them out with the matching size Label Framelit and then added a heathy dose of sprtizing. For the sentiment I used one from my new go to set Loving Thoughts, I just love the font in this set.

Springtime Smiles with The Paper Players

I am so excited to be posting my first challenge as a member of The Paper Players Design Team!

Jaydee is our challenge hostess this week and she is challenging everyone to help Spring get on it's way:) When I think of Spring I think of flowers, butterflies and fresh bright colours. So I just had to use all three on my card! I also used a fantastic sketch that my lovely friend Rita created for Freshly Made Sketches.

I used the fresh and fun colour combo of Lucky Limeaide, Daffodil Delight, Poppy Parade and Whsiper White. The base of the card is Poppy Parade and I then layered on a piece of Berry Blossoms Designer Series Paper (DSP). Next I embossed some Whisper White card stock using the Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Folder, then layered on another piece of DSP but this time using a piece from Just Add Cake.

For the main image I used another piece of Whisper White and rounded the top of it using my 2 1/2" Circle Punch. The flower stem image is from the Sweetheart stamp set and was inked up using Lucky Limeaide Classic Ink. For the layered flower image I used the Blossom Punch then two die cuts from the Blossom Builders Designer Printed Kit and then popped a Polka Dot Printed Designer Brad in the center. Now I seldom make a project with out ribbon and this card was no exception:) To finish it off I added some Daffodil Delight 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon, a matching button and Lucky Limeaide Baker's Twine.

Hello Kindness

Today we have another great challenge at Stampin' Royalty- Dressing Down.  I will admit it was a tough one for me-*GASP* no buttons, no bling, no ribbon, oh my! That's right we are asking you to add no embellishments to your project. I was amazed by the stunning creations the Design Team came up  with so be sure to check them out!

I think I may just need a Pool Party intervention as it does seem to be my colour of choice lately:) I created a bit of an odd size with this card as it measures 3 1/4 x 6 1/4. I used two stamps that can be earned for FREE during Sale A Bration; Kindness Matters and Elementary Elegance. Poppy Parade, Pool Party, Wisteria Wonder and Daffodil Delight was a fun colour combo to work with and I think it gives a nice fresh and fun feel. And yes here I am again creating banners/flags -I just can't stop,lol!

For the main image I stamped the butterflies in Poppy Parade ink on Confetti White Card stock then using the Colour Spritzer Tool and both Pool Party and Daffodil Delight Markers I spritzed on top of them. Next I used the En Francais Background stamp which was inked with Sahara Sand but I stamped off first
on a scrap paper to lighten the ink. I faintly stamped the small buterfly image from the Elementary Elegance set randomly 3 diferent times. The "Hello" is also from this set and was stamped using Early Espresso Ink.
