Holloween Treats PPA Challenge and August Stamp Club Project

            

                          

Yippie, the new Holiday Mini starts tomorrow and this is just one of the super fun items in it! My regular stamp club met this past Friday and this is one of the projects we did to kick off this mini catalogue that is full of over 40 pages of awesome new products and inspiration. How fun is it to not only give a cute card but fill it with candy too?! And of course Skittles would be the candy of choice for this crafter. I was totally inspired to do a holloween project by the awesome challenge and ideas on The  Pals Paper Arts blog.

The card starts with a 4x4 base in Pumpkin Pie and was randomly stamped in Versa mark with the words "Happy Holloween" from Teeny Tiny Wishes. I then took a 3x3 square of patterned paper from the Razzleberry Lemonade pack of Designer Series Paper (DSP) and stamped the Holloween image from the Sweet Centers Stamp Set (so many options with this one as there are images for all occasions) using Basic Black Craft ink and then heat embossed it with Clear Embossing powder. The center was then punched out with the 1 3/8 then 1 3/4 Circle Punches. I also punched out a 1 3/4 Circle in Green Galore cardstock. Everything from Stampin' Up! coordinates so well that I had to have my candy match too lol!

The tricky part was figuring out how I could adhere the Treat Cups with out the person receiving the card having to rip through layers of card stock and distroy the whole project-hmmmmm? I have seen some really neat ideas by some very clever crafters that have created sliding strips of paper and "doors" that open; I on the other hand needed something quick, easy and practical to demonstrate. So open came one of my favourite tools-the Cutter Kit. This is a must have item with so many tools on the chain; from cutting to scoring to destressing, it does it all! I used the Perferating tool to mark an "X" in the center of the punched out hole from the main image. I did this by taking my piece of DSP that was stamped on and lining up where I wanted it on the card(not adhering it yet) then marked the "X" in the center. Clear as mud?! I then remove the DSP and lined up my filled cup as best I could so the "x" was centered and adhered it. These super cute Sweet Treat Cups come in packs of 12 and already have adhesive on them-you just peel and stick. Next the Dsp was attached with the cup poking out of the center. I then took my 1 3/8 Circle that was punched out and stuck it to the Glorious Green Circle and tied a bow with Basic Black 1/4 Grosgrain Ribbon attacing it with a Mini Glue Dot right above the cute little spider.  

For the inside I took the little ring that was created from punching with both Circles and used it to highlight the spot where the candy can easily be accessed. Going with the coordinating theme YoYo Yellow went perfectly with the yellow Skittles and I then stamped a Jack o Lantern face again with Basic Black Craft ink and heat embossed.

For The Newlyweds and A UStamp Pass Winner

                   

So let me first start off this post by saying I know I have been MIA, but have you ever just had a week that got away from you? That was my week last week. Between having my oldest in camp and the other two not feeling well (and when they were there was constant bickering), I just didn't have much time to spend in my stamp room. *Insert long sigh here* So when I needed to make a card on Saturday for a wedding we were attending my mojo was a little "lack lustre" to say the least, but this is what I came up with.

Again I turned to my trustly set Friends 24-7 (don't think you can make a bad card with this set). The base of the card is Very Vanilla and using Melon Mambo ink I inked up the Tres Chic background stamp. Love the background stamps for adding quick design to any project. I felt this stamp in particular was fitting as these are great words for any couple. The edges of the card were sponged with Creamy Caramel.

For the main image panel I stamped the flowers on a piece of Watercolour Paper and used several markers as well as my Aqua Painter to watercolour the image. It is backed on to a piece of Soft Suede cardstock and a piece of Melon Mambo that was punched with the Scallop Edge Punch. Using my Double Square Punch, I punched the upper left corner and then weaved a piece of Pretty In Pink Taffeta Ribbon through the holes. For the sentiment I cut out a tag from SU! exclusive Sizzlets Lots of Tags with my Big Shot and Very Vanilla paper. The "For The Newlyweds" is from a fantastic all occasions set called Teeny Tiny Wishes. The edges of the tag are sponged with Soft Suede Ink and two Old Olive Brads are used on either end.

Markers Always Artichoke, Cameo Coral, Rose Red  Accessories: Aqua Painter, Earth Elements Brads, Double Rectangle Punch, Big shot, Lots of Tags Sizzlets, Scallop Edge Punch, Sponges.

Now for the fun part! I used Random.Org and the winning number is ......6!!!!!

Simple Scrapbooking

  

 

 

It has been a while since I did any scrapbooking and the sneak peek of My Digital Studio at Convention really got me in the mood to get Scrappin' again. Plus all the beautiful samples that were displayed there on the boards had me longing to make use of the endless Scrapbooking supplies that I have on hand. And of course what could be easier than pulling out a Simply Scrappin' Kit and watch your pages come together like magic!

For this two page spread I used pictures that were taken back in June at a local water park. The colours in the photos matched so perfectly with the Sunny Days Simply Scrappin' Kit that it was just a matter of deciding on a layout for the pictures. What I love most about these kits is that everything coordinates  perfectly, so whether you are a beginner or a scrap everthing type of person; these kits are for you! 

For the first page I started with a 5x7 photo of my son making his "Stop taking pictures of me mom or this is what you will get" face! I matted it on Old Olive as I found it was a good contrast against his orange shirt. The base of the page is a 12x12 sheet of Textured Tempting Turquiose and to add more contrast to the page I cut a strip of the Pumpkin Pie patterned paper and layered one of the die cut strips on top of it. The title is stamped in Basic Black using the Jumble Alphabet on two of the cloud die cuts that come with the kit. The jounaling box as well as the tag, and flower are also die cuts. They make putting these pages together a snap! The only thing that is not from the Simply Scrappin' are the ribbons and the little clip on the jouring box, and of course the stamp sets. 

The page with my daughter on it was heavily base on the layout sample that came with the kit. I think we sometimes forget what a great resource the samples found in Stampin' Up!'s Idea Book and Catalogue and the examples that are given in these types of kits can be. For her page I used the textured Old Olive Cardstock, cut a strip of one of the patterned papers and made use of several of the self adhesive die cuts that come with kit. The only stamping that was done was the "Happy" definition from the Define Your Life Set. I think this stamp set along with an alphabet set are must haves for any scrapbooker.

Hope you enjoy these pages and that they inspire you to get out those pictures and get Scrappin'! Remember Scrapbooking should not be overwhelming-but fun! Enjoy recalling those special memories and using a Simply Scrappin' Kit is the perfect way to start!

Exciting News and a Convetion Swap

 

 

I am super excited to share with all of you that once again I will be a CREATIVE CREW GIRL for  UStamp With Dawn and Friends! The last round of UStamp was so much fun I I had the pleasure of meeting some of my "Virtual Friends" and fellow "Crew Girls" at Convention and what an amazing experience that was! And a big shout out to Dawn Rapsas who achieved #1 Demonstrator of the Year for the USA. What a fantastic accomplishment! If you are looking for great project ideas and a place to meet people who share the love of paper crafting and Stampin' Up! as much as you do then UStamp is the place to go! Now the following card is one of the other swaps that I took to Convention for general swapping. I only made 12 of them but was proud to say that I took my blogging friend CARRIE'S advice and used scraps to compose my card. That women is so amazingly organized and saves all her scraps from classes and workshops through out the year to make her swaps. So I was very proud when I had finished this card with the bits and pieces of cardstock I had on hand from previous projects.

WOW- What a time! Convention Highlights

So let me first start this post off by saying "Caution" lots of amazing project pictures to follow! I was so totally overwhelmed by the amazing talent that was displayed on the boards, and so inspired to get home and recreate EVERYTHING that I saw, unfortunately laundry, children and everyday chores have dictated otherwise LOL! Today I am going to post some of my favourite scrapbook pages from Convention and dare I say it some sneak peeks of MY DIGITAL STUDIO! This program is way over the top! I could not believe all things you can do with it, but tradition Scrappers do not fret as this will not replace all the amazing scrapbooking products we have, it will just open the door to a different chapter in scrappin'. Think very quick and easy brag books, Storybook style books with hard or soft covers, calendars, and even cards!

Now on to MY DIGITAL STUDIO!

               

My jaw hit the floor when we were given a quick tour through the program. It has Stampin' Up!'s exclusive colours, Designer "paper" patterns, embelishments and "Stamp Sets"! You will not believe what you can create with this program. I must admit that when I first heard about Stampin' Up! introducing Digital Scrapbooking I thought; Great, but not for me. Boy was I wrong! I will always love and continue to do traditional scrapbooking, I can tell you that this will be the perfect program to make gifts for many people on my list this year.

Away

Just wanted to pop in a say that I will not be posting again until after I am back from SU! Convention in Salt Lake City. So probably not until August 10th. I am so excited to be going and having the opportunity to meet some amazing people and even more importantly receive some amazing swaps LOL! When I am back I will be sharing with you the projects we made as well as the other swaps that I brought. Unfortunately there is no time today to post anything new as all the projects I have been working on are safely packed and I am about to leave for the airport.

A New Baby Girl and A New Challenge

 

 

So in case you haven't noticed I love a good challenge, I find it really helps me to get creating. I was thrilled when I found this challenge at Pals Paper Arts, a new challenge blog hosted by some amazing paper crafters. You have to check it out and see their beautifully inspiring creations.

So when a friend called this morning asking if I could whip up a baby card for her because her neighbour gave birth to a beautiful baby girl this morning,I knew just what I wanted to do! I have been looking for an excuse to CASE this amazing card  and today seemed to be the perfect day to do so. I will not go into detail as LeeAnn has done a fabulous tutorial on how to recreate this cute baby buggy. But I did dry emboss the Very Vanilla card stock with the Big Shot and SU! impressions die called Final Press-I love the delicate swirls and flowers that it has on it.

So that is my Challenge card using the three colours Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay and Chocolate Chip. I just love the way they go together and will definately be using this combo again!
