A New Ink on Life

Well today is my wedding anniversary and I am definately no longer a newlywed! But my husband and I did have the pleasure of attending a wedding this past Saturday and this is the card I made for the lovely couple.

It is a money/gift card holder; which now seems to be the gift of choice these days for the bride and groom. For this card I kept the colours very neutral, using Basic Grey, Whisper White, Sahara Sand and Basic Black. The Sahara Sand piece was dry embossed with the Elegant Vintage Wallpaer Folder and the Big Shot (there is almost nothing that this machine can't do!) I also used it to emboss the envelope as well! I then placed down a line of Sticky Strip and pleated the Whisper White Satin Ribbon, using Mini Glue Dots to secure the "loops" down.  Notice the new punch? I am loving the Decorative Label Punch and so will you-only 1 more day until the launch of the Holiday Mini! The sentiment is from the very versitile Teey Tiny Wishes (a must have set) and was punched out with the
Decorative Label Punch and layered on top of the 1 3/8'" Circle Punch. I also used the Decorative Label Punch on the inside pocket create a notch making it easy to take the money out.

Envelope Card Tutorial

 
 
 

 I've had several people contact me with questions regarding this card.  I mentioned in my previous post that it was an Evelope Pocket Card (or atleast that is what I am calling it :) The base of the card is created from a Stampin' Up! Medium Size Envelope. So I thought I would create an mini tutorial and explain how I made it, plus it is my wedding anniversary tomorrow and I needed to make a card, lol!

 For this particular card I used the sets Sense of Time, Teeny Tiny Wishes and Hope Happens. The colours used are Crumb Cake, Not Quite Navy, Early Expresso and Very Vanilla.

              
 Seal the envelope and the line up the sealed end at the 4 1/4" mark so that you are cutting of the end that does not have the flap. Then take a piece of 5 1/2"x 4" cardstock in you choice of colour (Not Quite Navy is shown here). Stamp and decorate as desired. ( I stamped tone on tone then used the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.)

   
For the main image panel I used a 3 1/4"x 3 1/2" piece of Very Vanilla and then using my Crumb Cake Inkpad I did the direct to paper technique to add some colour and "texture". I then stamped my clock image off center. 
 

Attach the large cardstock layer to the envelope side that has the seams and flap. Using the 1" Circle punch line it up half way to create a notch throught the first layer of the envelope. It should punch through the cardstock layer as well.

 
Take a 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" piece of Very Vanilla card stock and insert it into the envelope. It should fit perfectly inside. Line up where you want to place the eyelet (you could also use a brad like my previous card). Make a mark and the using the Crop A Dile set the eyelet. I then used Twill Tape and Hemp Twine to create the pull out piece.
  
    Then stamp the insert as desired and slide into the envelope- Easy Peasy!

I've been Colour Coached!

 
 
 
 
 

This is one of the cards that we made at my Stamp Club meeting last week. When I was designing the projects for this month's meeting I knew that I wanted to create a pocket style card using Stampin' Up's Medium Size Evelopes in Crumb Cake and that I also wanted to use Basic Black and the rich Cherry Cobbler but was stumped when it came to picking that last accent colour! Soooo, I pulled out my Handy Dandy Colour Coach and -Voila! Baja Breeze was the perfect pick!  

I was inspired to use the Colour Coach by SU!'s Ceo and Co-founder Shelli Gardner as she is currently running a Creative Challenge to use it. I must admit that it is definately a tool I will be referring to over and over again. 

I was also very excited to show everyone how fun stenciling can be on your paper crafting projects. The flower image is a beautiful stencil from the Elegant Trio Stencil set in the Definately Decorative Brouchure. I used Sponge Daubers and Baja Breeze, Crumb Cake and Cherry Cobbler Classic Inks to create the colours in the flower. Then stamped the Gratitude Definition from Define Your Life Stamp set on top of the stencil so only parts of the words would show through. (this was a technique that Shelli herself had demonstrated when she was doing the workshop of a lifetime events.)

The design itself was based on a Envelope card that was demonstrated at Convention this past July. Of course I had to totally change up the design and the only thing that is the same is using the Medium Envelope for the pocket,lol. I sealed the envelope and just cut off a sliver to create the pocket. The out side was decorated with a Basic Black panel the was dry embossed with the Vintage Wallpaper folder. Oh and I finally broke into my package of Antique Brads- LOVE THEM! The "4 you" is from TinyTags and I stamped it on one of the super cute mini Vintage Tags. Can you spot something NEW on this card?! The little snip of "ribbon" is the new Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding from the upcoming Holiday Mini. Can you saw A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! Yes I said typed Seam Binding-there is Fabric coming out in the Mini!!!! Now I AM NOT a sewer at all, but wait until you see what can be created with it-trust me you will want some.

Colour Challenged

 

Well I am back from holidays and decided to try out Stacey's colour challenge to jump start my mojo as I have not stamped in almost two weeks! 

I just love the fun, sunny combonation that she choose. With back to school here starting in less than 2 weeks (insert very happy parent here!) I pulled out the Level two Hostess set Apple Blossoms and had my oldest daughter in mind when I created this card, she will be starting grade 6 this year and I can not believe what an awesome young lady she is becoming. I will be slipping this in her lunch bag with of course a special note from me.

For the card base I used Tempting Turquoise and stamped tone on tone with the circles image. The Designer Series Paper (DSP) is from the Hostess Level One Paper Stack and is full of great designs in all 5 of the current In Colours. I especially love the pattern with the lines-it reminded me of a old Library card insert so I cut it down and rounded the corners then stamped the leafy image 3 times, stamping off the ink to create a lighter tone. The cute little apple is stamped in Poppy Parade.I then had to attach a little clip from the Clips Assortment and the add some skinny Daffodil Delight Taffeta Ribbon. The Polka Dot DSP is the other side of the Lined Pattern. To add a little most interest to the design I used the Top Not Die for the Big Shot and stamped the sentiment on it with Early Expresso then sponged the edges with Daffodil Delight Ink.

Be Yourself

What could be better than a blinged out birthday card for a special 10 year old? My niece turned ten earlier this month and I really wanted to make her a very special card. I just wish I could have gotten a better picture before we took it to her.

I am loving the new Playdate Designer Series Paper and the new self adhesive Rhinestones are to die for! All the colours in the card I took from the fun colour combination found in the DSP. Both the circles and the scallop circle were cut out using the Big Shot (seriously, everyone should have this machine!). The number 10 was cut out using SU! exclusive Simple Numbers Die, I glued the patterned paper to some raw chipboard then cut it out.

Well I am actually on holidays and I promised my husband NO paper crafting while we are away-GASP! So my box of goodies that I preordered from the upcoming Holiday Mini Catalogue will just have to wait {sigh}. But I promise I will be back with some fantastic new samples by the 27th.

Tropical Fun Stamp Club projects

These were my Stamp Club projects for July. I usually try to do 2-3 projects with one always being some sort of 3D item. Yes, I did make the same box and Tag treat holder as shown HERE and HERE just this time I used the fun Island Oasis Designer Series Paper! I love these bright and summery colours. Not sure what has happened to me lately as I use to be very much a neutrals girl but since the Stampin' Up!'s Colour Renovation I find myself trying more and more fun new colour combinations.

For these projects I drew from all the colours in the DSP; Tempting Turquiose, Pumpkin Pie, Rose Red and Old Olive. I also like to create a product focus when creating my Club Projects and in July the focus was the super cute Bitty Buttons, matching Punch Pack and the Circles #2 die for the Big Shot. We also got to play with one of the new boarder punches; the Dotted Scallop Ribbon. 

The stamp sets used were; Teeny Tiny Wishes, Heard From the Heart and Hope Happens.

The Best Part of Stampin' Up! Convention.......

 
.....is stamping with your on line friends in person. (left to right Becky Roberts, Di Gibbs, Kim Sinclair) There is the picture of the four of us but I could not bear to post it because my forehead was super shiney-hey don't laugh,it's the make up artist in me!

..... watching one of your good friends win a Cruise To Alaska! (Paula Jensen) and Kim Sinclair also won!

.....seeing your work on the Stampin' Up! display boards and finding out you were a Finalist for the Artisan Award Contest! (I found 6 of my projects on diplay and was one of 22 finalists!)

.....participating in a super fun Organized Colour Challenge Swap hosted by Stacey Shcafer from Stacey's Stamping Stage. (she hosts a great on line weekly colour challenge, is super nice in person, and I most likely chatted her ear off lol!) The colours were Whisper White, Baja Breeze,Melon Mambo and Crumb Cake and  all of the swaps I received back were fantastic.

....watching the extremely talented Heather Summers present on stage. She has to be one of the most genuinely sincere people you will ever meet and I can not wait to see her in a few weeks!

.....learning how to water colour from THE MASTER! Di Gibbs is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G and I can not wait to try out her tips and techniques.
