Getting a Little Sketchy-Stampin' Royalty Style

Yes, you guessed it-this week at Stampin' Royalty we have a sketch challenge! When I first looked at the sketch I wasn't sure what i was going to do, but then I remembered that I needed to make a birthday card for my MIL and thought that butterflies would make the perfect embelishments with my favourite image from Just Believe. Now make sure you check out all the other fabulous samples from the Design Team. This week we have added 3 NEW team members, and we have 3 Guest Designers for some added inspiration! 
For the card base I used Baja Breeze and added a large matt with Old Olive. I then used a piece of DSP from the Greenhouse Gala with the Daffodil Delight pattern. The image was inked up using Baja Breeze, Marina Mist, and Old Olive markers. I cut of the oval with the  Scallop Oval Frame Sizzix Die and just used the oval to stamp on. The butterflies were die cut using the Beautiful Wings Embosslit. 
I then stamped a sentiment in Early Espresso ink from Sincere Salutations and framed it with a Styled Vanilla Hodge Podge Designer Label. Using one of the little punches from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack I created flowers and attached then to either end of the label. Of course I had to add a little bling  with Rhinstone Jewels. For the ribbon treatment I used the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Puch and Early Espresso, then layered some 1/8"Marina Mist Taffeta Ribbon.

Celebrate You

 

So last night or should I say very early this morning I completed this birthday card for my daughter. After making this page in my Digital Studio, I was inspired to pull out the "real" Play Date Designer Series Paper and matching Quick Accents. All I needed was a layout for the card and at after midnight I was short on creative ideas (lol) so I turned to one of my favourite challenge site for inspiration. This week at Pals Paper Arts they have a sketch challenge-perfect, so off I went and this was I card I came up with. 

For the base of the card I used Tempting Turquoise then layered a piece of Play Date DSP. I also took one of the decorative strips from the Quick Accents and cut it to fit along the bottom of the DSP. Inside of using ribbon I decided to create a paper ruffled ribbon by cutting a stip of the DSP and and folding it back and forth. "The Clebrate You" is from the stamp Set Party Hearty and was stamped with Early Espresso ink on Daffodil Delight card stock. I then punched it out with the Scallop Circle Punch, and also punched out a 1" Circle from Textured Old Olive card stock. The cute little mushroom is also from the Quick Accents and as my daughter pointed out has 11 dots on it! (of course I planned it that way :)

Happy Birthday Angel with My Digital Studio

 
Well the day has come-September 25th is my oldest daughter's birthday and I can not believe how much she has grown in the last year! She just attended her first dance and she wants to invite boys to her party {GASP}. So I decided tonight while I am suppose to be making her birthday card (yes everything around here is last minute:), that I would create a quick digital page to celebrate this birthday milestone. Yes I know she is omly 11 but apparently in her world that practically makes her a teenager!

I decided to use the Playground Designer Series Paper Digital download again and all the colours that go with it. The base of the page is Textured Chocolate Chip, I then layered several different strip of the DSP and also added the flower strip from the Playground Accents Download; the cute little mushrooms are also from there. The dotted circles are from the Enjoy Every Moment Stamp Brush Set and the other words are from A Little Birthday Cheer.

I better go and make that card as it is close to midnight, so I will be back later with a picture of it.

Skater Boy Birthday

 I needed to come up with a quick card for a boy's birthday and realistically it's not like they even notice the card anyway, so I kept it pretty simple. The base of the card is Bashful Blue and I then took a wide strip of Chocolate Chip and dry embossed it using the Square Lattice Folder and my Big Shot. For the main image I used the Etreme Elements stamp set and Etreme Skateboard stamp. I stamped the Skateboarder in Black Black Ink and then the other images using  Crumb Cake, Daffodil Delight and Cherry Cobbler Classic Inks. The sentiment is from All Holidays.
That's it super clean and simple!

Stampin Royalty #38 Grateful for Anything But a Card

This week at Stampin' Royalty we are challinging you to make Anything But a Card, and for me this one is a great because I love creating 3D projects. Truth be told, I actually find designing cards the most challenging! So be sure to check out all the design team's samples here. We would love to have you play along this week!

Thanksgiving in Canada is just a few short weeks away so I decided it would be a good idea to get started on some little thank you gifts for all the amazing people in my life that make me realize how truly blessed I am.

I created a little Gable Box, just the right size to hold a little treat or even 3x3 note cards. I am in love with the Autumn Spice Designer Series Specialty Paper! It is Textured Heavy-Weight Card stock, so just perfect for making boxes and 3D projects.  I also used both Early Espresso and Cajun Craze Card stock and ran them through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder. Of course the paper also has a beautiful matching stamp set; Day of Gratitude. I used my Stampin' Markers in Cajun Craze, Early Espresso, More Mustard and Old Olive to colour the images then stamped them on Very Vanilla and cut them out. I also just love the 1 1/4" Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, but sometimes I find it just a little wide for a project so I just simply cut it in half!I also just had to make a cute little matching note card with Crumb Cake and Cajun Craze Card stock, DSP and an Old Olive leaf created with the Leaves #2 Sizzix Die.

CCMC #116 and Blog Candy Alert!

                                       

This week at Create with Connie and Mary  there is a sketch challenge and I thought it would be fun to play along. And since I have been creating so many Christmas projects lately I thought I should ink up a Halloween set as it is only just over a month away, so I decided to use the super fun Wicked Cool Stamp Set.
 
For the card base I used Old Olive, then attached a strip of More Mustard DSP that I stamped the bat images on with Basic Gray Classic Ink.  I then used the cool new Bat Punch and punched a piece of Basic Black Textured card stock, next using the Decorative Label Punch I centered the negative of the bat and punched. Heather Summers showed us at Convention that the "Spooky" would fit inside the bat. Using a scrap piece of Whisper White I stamped the Hat image in Rich Razzleberry and the cute Boots with Basic Gray then cut them out using my Paper Snips.On another scrap of paper I stamped "Spooky" in More Mustard. For the main panel I stamped the spider webs with Basic Black ink and matted it on Basic Gray card stock. I wanted to something a little different for the ribbon piece so I used the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch with Rich Razzleberry card stock then attached Old Olive Grograin Ribbon and finished it with a sparkly new Glimmer Brad. But I couldn't just stop with the glitter there-I had to throw in some Basic Rhinestone Jewels for good measure!

Back to School with MDS

Well WE survived the first few weeks of school around here so I thought I would do a quick digital page using the My Digital Studio program. There are some great new downloads for MDS available right now so I of course HAD to get a few :) I created this layout using the new Play Date Designer Series Paper and also the matching Quick Accents Kit digital downloads. Both these products are also available in "real" paper form as well!

I started with the Tempting Turquoise textured card stock for the base then used the Scallop Square punch and stretched it out (something you CAN NOT do in real life,lol!) then filled it with one of the patterns from the DSP download. For embellishments I used the Quick accents and also some matching grograin ribbon. Real simple quick and easy page.

Sew Thankful SR #37

This week at Stampin' Royalty we are challenging you to add stitching to your paper crafting! (It can be real or faux) and for those sewers out there I can not wait to see what you come up with; I on the other hand do not even own a sewing machine! Although I must admit with the new Designer fabric from Stampin' Up! I have challenged myself to learn how to sew, and you will be seeing some fun projects coming up from me!

I must also admit that when I first saw what the challenge was going to be for this week I was a little intimidated then I realized that stitching doesn't have to equal needle and thread or a sew maching. Faux stiching is just as fun and was what I was originally going to do but then I had an idea, and "sew" this card was made!

For the base of the card I started with Confetti White and stamped the Woodgrain Background with Crumb Cake Classic Ink.  Then I stamped the beautiful leaves from Autumn Splendor with More Mustard, Old Olive and Cherry Cobbler ink. Using my Big Shot and the Leaves #2 die I cut out 3 leaves in the same colour cardstock and dry embossed the Cherry Cobbler leaf with the Square Lattice Impressions Folder. I matted the leaves on a piece of Confetti White and then on Soft Suede, crumpling them up a little to add texture and interest. This is where my "stitching" comes in. Using my Paper Piercer I poked holes then threaded Hemp Twine through the holes to create "X's". The sentiment is from the new Day of Gratitude stamp set and Early Espresso Ink, the punched out with Decorative Label Punch. I also light sponged everything with Soft Suede.

Simply Live , Laugh, Love

I was fortunate enough to spend most of my day yesturday stamping-gotta love it when that happens! Although I must admit it rarely ever happens in my house. I had a friend come by to make a few birthday cards and while our children played we got to create! She need to make make up a bunch of cards for upcoming birthdays so I tried to quickly design some clean and simple ones. After playing along with the lovely ladies at  Paper Players earlier this week, it really got me in the mood stamp a little more simply. I usually love my layers and embelishments but I must say it is a little freeing when you can whip up a card in under 15 minutes!

For this card I statred with a Crumb Cake base and stamped the bubble circle from Circle Circus with Rich Razzleberry ink. I then stamp another circle from the same set in Melon Mambo, Crumb Cake and Marina Mist on Whiper White, and the sentiment from All Holidays was stamped over them in Early Expresso. I wrapped a piece of the 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon in the same colour around the white piece and then made a little bow, attaching it with a mini glue dot. It was then matted onto a piece of Marina Mist and Rich Razzleberry.  To finish the card off I used the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border with a strip of Textured Melon Mambo Card stock.
