This week at Stampin' Royalty we are challenging you to a theme challenge. With Canada Day on Friday and Independence Day on Monday we challenge you to  GO PATRIOTIC!!!

Now I took a lot of creative lisence with this one as I have no Canadian themed stamps as well as I could not find any Canada Day photo. But I figured what could be more Canadian then Hockey,EH?

 
 Back in February my husband and I were able to take our two oldest to a NHL hockey game here in Vancouver. My husband is a die hard Montreal Canadians hockey fan so of course our kids are too.  Through his work connections we were able to go back after the game and meet a lot of the players and get autographs. I think one of the most amazing experiences was to watch the kids just be so completely excited and overwhelmed. Especially when they got to meet their favourite player; Montreal's goalie Carey Price!

Okay so now on to the page,lol! It is very simple and I just created my own background paper using the Maple Leaf from the Canada Day Download and added a Real Read drop shadow to the white ones. The tital is a stamp brush from the Sporting stamp brush set which is included in the full My Digital Studio Program.

Engraved Greetings Thank You

It's Tuesday and time again for another great sketch challenge at Try Stampin' on Tuesday . Wow I can not believe that there is only a few days left to order from the current Stampin' Up! Catalogue! I am sad to see some of my favourites go but so excited and inspired by the beautiful new catalogue. I decided to create my challenge card this week using the often over looked and soon to be retired, Engraved Greetings. I think the images are just perfect for either a masculine card or a very elegant one.

Here's my card:

I am always in need of thank you cards, but especially this time of year. I made this one with a little more of a masculine feel. The card base is Crumb Cake (and definately a staple colour for me:). Next I layered on Early Espresso and then some Designer Series Paper from the Christmas Cheer Simply Scrappin' Kit. I love the DSP in this kit and the best part is that the paper has 2 sides so it is not just for Christmas projects!  The striped DSP is also from this kit and I ran it through the Paper Crimper to add some texture.
 
 
I stamped the main image on Very Vanilla using Chocolate Chip Craft Ink then heat embossed it with Clear Embossing Powder.  It was then layered on Marina Mist and a Cherry Cobbler Scallop Square the was die cut using the Big Shot and the SU! Scallop Suare Duo. To finish it all off I added an Early Espresso Button and some Linen Thread.

Just a Little Note of Thanks

Well we are just about at the end of the school year here, so you know what that means-teacher cards and gifts. For my son's class several of the parents contributed to a group gift so I of course volunteered to make the card:)

 Oh, I am so going to miss the Celebrations Designer Series Paper and the Spiral Border Punch when it retires on June 30th. I started with a 5 1/2 x 5 1/2" card base in Real Red. Next I layered on Basic Black and Celebrations DSP. I also place a strip of Wild Wasabi DSP from the Subtles Pattern Paper Stack. I really wanted to play around with the Cork Sheets, so I decided to create a Bulletin Board. I thought that would be kind of "teacher-ish":) I have no "teacher" stamps per say so I had to improvise,lol. To create the board I took a piece of Cork measuring 3 x 4, then cut 1/4" strips of Crumb Cake Card stock that I stamped with the Woodgrain Background and sponged with Whisper White Craft Ink. For the note I used a piece of DSP that will be available on July 1st, called Just Add Cake and made it look like a page from a notebook by using the Spriral Border Punch. The sentiment is from the Hostess set Apple Blossoms and so is the cute little apple. To finish it all of I just had to add a Mini Library Clip and some White Bakers Twine. I actually also created a pocket inside to hold some gift cards, but of course I for got to take a picture of that!

It's Wednesday and that means another great challenge at Stampin' Royalty. This week we have a sketch for you and as I mentioned yesterday-sketches are such a great way  to jump start your creativity, although I pretty much stuck to the sketch this time:) Be sure to check out all the awesome Design Team samples.

and here's my card:So yesterday I posted a card with some new Sneak Peeks from the upcoming catalogue, so today I wanted to hilight a super fun set that will be retiring at the end of June. Puns From the Past has some really cool vintage images with cute little play on words for the sentiments. When I was creating this card I had a friend of mine in mind who sent me a beautiful card congratulating me on my Artisan Award win. She is INSANELY talented and I greatly admire her creativity, so I wanted to send her a note just to let her know how great I think she is. (Now if only Canada Post would stop striking, so I could actually get it in the mail to her:)

For the card base I started with Soft Suede and using the same colour of ink I stamped the Woodgrain Background stamp over the card front then using the Cutter Kit I distressed the edges.

 I used a piece of First Edition Designer Series Paper and really distressed it by crumpling it up, tearing some edges, sponging with Crumb Cake Classic Ink and then lightly stamping part of the image from the Medallion Bckground Stamp. Now after playing with some new products I just couldn't resist but to use another new In Colour called Calypso Coral. Orange is my all time favourite colour-I love all shades and tones of it, so I was so excited when I saw this  beautiful rich colour. I started with a piece of Textured Calypso Coral then used the Paper Crimper to add even more texture. Next I tore one end and sponged the whole piece with Soft Suede Ink.  The fan image was stamped using Early Espresso on Naturals Ivory then sponged all over it. I then added some Victoria Crochet Trim and a tiny button brad from the Vintage Trinkets.

Hello Baby with Pennant Parade

So it's Tuesday and time to get Sketchy at Try Stampin' on Tuesday ! CherylAnn has another interesting sketch for you to try. Be sure to check out all of the Design Teams samples-it's so cool to see how different everyone's card turned out. That's why I love sketches; they are a great way to jump start your creativity! 

And here's my take on the sketch (I took just a "little" creative license with this one:)

A really good friend of mine just had a baby boy and that gave me the perfect excuse to break out some new goodies from my preorder! Yes you are looking at some fabulous sneak peeks from the upcoming Idea Book and Catalogue that launches July 1st! Seriuosly it is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!!!!

Pennants and banners are all the rage right now and Stampin' Up! has more then hit the mark with the new Petite Pennant Builder Punch and the awesome matching stamp set called Pennant Parade. See that yummy patterned paper? It's called Just Add Cake and I LOVE it!!!

For the base of the card I started with Textured Crumb Cake Card stock and die cut some stars using the Big Shot and the Stars #2 Die. The pennants were created using the Petite Pennant Punch. The words and the star are from the Pennant Parade Stamp set and were punched out with the 1/2" and 3/4" Circle Punches. I then strung them on Eary Espresso Bakers Twine and wrapped it around two brads.

 
The DSP was layered onto a piece of Peach Parfait and then I used several punches to layer the sentiment. The words are from Fabulous Phrases (definately my "go to" set). I stamped them in Island Indigo (a brand new In Colour:), Peach Parfait and Wild Wasabi.

My Digital Studio Inspiration!

I am so excited about the challenge that we are having at Stampin' Royalty this week! "Why?" you may ask, well I LOVE Inspiration Challenges and a few months ago Sandra asked me if I would be interested in creating a monthly one for Stampin' Royalty. So this is my first inpiration challenge and I really hope you will play along with us:) I found this beautiful bedding on the DWELL Studio site (I love all of their kids bedding!) and was totally inspired to create a scrapbook page using My Digital Studio.

 

 Okay so as I have mentioned so many times before-My Digital Studio ROCKS!!!!!!!!  I used the colours and shapes from the inspiration photo to create my page. And the photos are of my youngest just playing around in our backyard. (you can click on the photo to view it larger if you like:) I did use a little trick to create the title. The "Happy Day" is from the Word Play download and there is a diamond between the words (for happy I do day) so I just covered it up with punches:)

Artistic Etchings

It's Tuesday so that means it's sketch time at Try Stampin' On Tuesday! I took last week off but I am glad to be back designing with a fab sketch from CherylAnn.

Here's my card:

 
There is lots going on, on this card lol! The base is a 4 1/2 x 4 1/2 Crumb Cake square and I used the Textured Wallpaper Impressions Folder and the Big Shot to dry emboss most of the card front. Along the bottom of my card I score two lines to add a little more interest and also rounded all the corners. For the main image I first stamped the Eiffel Tower in Basic Black Craft Ink on Watercolour Paper and then Heat Embossed it with Clear Embossing Powder and my Heat Tool. I then stamped the other image 5 times using StazOn Ink (2 of them I stamped off first). I wanted to do a Water Colour Wash so I used my Aqua Painter and Classic Ink in Daffodil Delight, Marina Mist, and Wild Wasabi. I made sure to really blend the colours well all over the paper.  Next I dried it with the Heat Tool then sprayed some Log Cabin Smooth Spritz and again used my Aqua Painter to wash it across the paper.

 To speed up the drying process I again dried it with the Heat Tool and stamped the word "Amour" with Cherry Cobbler Classic Ink. Lastly I used my Aqua Painter lightly over the word to blend it just a bit. The flower is from a pack of  Paper Daises and I just stamped one of the images on it several times until it was covered, sponged on some Crumb Cake Classic Ink, then placed an Antique Brad in the middle. And to finish everything off, I just had to pleat on a little of the Victoria Crochet Trim.

So now to a card:)

 

I was totally inspired by the beautiful colour combo from a wedding that I recently attended. You can view the card that I made for the bride and groom HERE. So after making them a wedding card I decided to make a thank you card too, because I am always in needed of those type of cards.

The card itself is pretty simple. I embossed a piece of Naturals Ivory Card stock with the fabulous Big Shot and the Vintage Wallpaper Impressions Folder. Using the Wide Oval Punch I created a window in the card. Then die cut a Tag from the Lots of Tags Sizzlets in Melon Mambo Textured Card stock. I wanted the outside design of the tag to frame my little window so I carefully punched out the center of the tag with the Wide Oval Punch.

 I then tied some yummy 5/8 Taffeta Ribbon in Pumpkin Pie through the opening. I LOVE the the little flower from the Bitty Punch Pack, so I just had to a add a few in Pink Pirouette and of course they needed some Pearl Jewels. I then stamped the "thanks" from Thank You Kindly on Very Vanilla with Early Espresso Ink. I attached it to the inside of the card with Dimesionals so it peeks through the window.

 I love finding different uses for punches and the Postage Stamp Punch makes it super easy to create fun mini pinwheels.

Celebrate Dad with The Open Sea

It's Wednesday and this week at Stampin' Royalty we are asking you to Celebrate Dad! Let's see what you've got! We're talking cards, scrapbook pages, 3d projects - you name it - something for Dad. Be sure to stop by and see all of the Design Team's samples-we would love to have you play along!

I will admit that I have been seriously lacking in some creative mojo this past week. Thankfully the ColourQ has an awesome combination this week and it kicked my butt back to stamping. I'll admit it's not my favourite card, but it will have to do :) I stamped the ship image from The Open Sea with Black Stazon Ink on Watercolour Paper. I then punched it out with the 2 1/2" Circle Punch and stamped the scripted stamp over top using Crumb Cake ink that I had first stamped off. To water colour the image I used makers and inks in Cherry Cobbler, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake and my Aqua Painter (I also used just a touch of Marina Mist for the water). I then sponged the edges with Soft Suede.The sentiment was stamped using Early Espresso and is from Teeny Tiny Wishes. The card base is Crumb Cake Card stock and the front has been dry embossed using the Square Lattice Impressions Folder and my Big Shot. 
 
Using the Postage Stamp Punch, I punched out 3 pieces from the Nautical Expedition Designer Series Paper. I wanted to make the focal image pop so I cut out a 3" Soft Suede Circle using the Sizzix Die then very carefully lined it up inside of the 2 1/2" Circle Punch. I then stamped it with matching ink and the Woodgrain Background Stamp. To create even more interest I placed Dimensionals around the circle so it popped up over the image. To finish everything off I used an Antique Brad and some Twill Tape.
