So as I have mentioned before that I really don't "get into" halloween that much, but I am happy to report that I did get decorations last weekend and we are now not the "lamest" house on the block anymore,lol! So when I got a call from Stampin' Up! a few weeks ago asking if I would be willing to create a halloween project for their Facebook page I of course was excited, but what was I going to make?! The projects were posted last week and I was blown away by the awesome things that this year's Artisan Award Winners came up with. If you haven't already be sure to check them out HERE!

I had taken these awesome pictures of my son last halloween and had used a few of them on one of my Artisan enteries but I had yet to scrap them for myself,(yes I am way behind on scrapping:). So I figured this was the perfect opportunity to do so. I used the Pick Your Poison Designer Series Paper (Holiday Mini) and I just love how one side of this paper is just perfect for scrapbooking. The title is actually cut from one of the sheets and then the main 12x12 sheet already had the awesome border around it.

I created ticket embellishments by using the Postage Stamp Punch and the Ticket Corner Punch.

Another fun detail was using the Basic Rhinestone Jewels and colouring them black using a permenant marker. In person they look really cool where I added them to the skulls on the corner of the page. I also used my favourite Striped Grosgrain Ribbon and cut it in half (width) then pulled out a bunch of the threads to create a neat fringe.

Halloween Treats

Today we have a great challenge for you at Stampin' Royalty! Halloween is fast approaching and we would love to see what you are making so this week we are having a Halloween Theme Challenge.  I find that the kids get so much candy on halloween that I wanted to come up with another type of treat for them, although I am not too sure they would consider this a "treat":)

Using the awesome Simply Scored Tool I was able to whip up this pencil box in no time! I also embossed the Basic Black Card stock with the Spider Web Impressions Folder and added some Dazzling Details along the lines of the web.

I created the cute little tag using punches and both the Spooky Bingo Bits and Tiny Tags stamp sets. The DSP is from the Flightful Sight Pack  and I attached the tag to some Lucky Limeaide Ruffled Ribbon with White Bakers Twine.

Gingerbread and Sugared Things......

It's Tuesday so that means CherylAnn has come up with another great sketch at Try Stampin' on Tuesday. I know Halloween isn't even here yet but I am now into the Christmas card making mode:) Although I promise tomorrow I will have a few spooky projects to share this week.

And here's what I came up with:

So I did change it up a little. I omitted the fourth circle and just stamped my sentiment directly on the Designer Series Paper. The images from Jolly Bingo Bits were just too cute not to use in those circles and paired perfectly with the words from the Sweet Season stamp set, which obviously would not fit in a circle:)
The base of the card is a 4 1/4 Soft Suede square, layered with a patteren from the Holly Berry Bouquet DSP that I created Faux Stitching around it using a Paper Piercer, Matt Pack and an Early Espresso Marker.

Next I layered on some Real Red Textured Card stock. I then tied some White Bakers Twine around the main piece of DSP and added 3 Mini Jingle Bells that I had threaded through some Linen Thread.This piece was then attached to the card with Dimensionals.  One thing that I did add to give just a little "bling" was some of the new Dazzling Details glitter to each of the images. This stuff is so fun to work with because it comes in a squeeze bottle and is mess free!

Red and Green Christmas with Easy Events

I have been working a lot lately on try to come up with easy recreatable designs for some Christmas card classes. I noticed this week that the amazing ladies at The Paper Players have a CAS Green and Red Christmas Challenge, so I came up with this quick card.

I am really begining to like the stamp set Easy Events, it is just so versitile and has images for every occasion.  I will metion though that I got this set in Wood Mount and cut the words out from the image so that I could stamp them seperately. I started with a Wild Wasabi card base and stamped the image tone on tone on opposite corners. Next I stamped it on a piece of Naturals Ivory card stock using Black StazOn and coloured it with markers.

The Real Red Card stok was embossed with the Petals a Plenty Impressions Folder and the Big Shot. I punched out a circle window then popped it up on Dimesionals and placed it over the main image. Then I wrapped some of the elegant Very Vanilla Stitched Velvet Ribbon and added a bow.  Very Clean and Simple:)

Simply Serene Dasher

Today I got to stamp! It was a super quick card but I stamped none the less:) My little one has croup so we spent the morning at the Dr.'s and then came home to have a little Play Dough therapy. It was the least I could do since she took all of her medicine like a big girl! But when she had enough of me I snuck off the create a quick card. I had saved this photo of an absolutely stunning card quite awhile ago and unfortunately it does not have a watermark, so I am not sure who created it. (If you recognize it please let me know so I can give proper credit) From the first time I saw it I knew that I wanted to create something similar as I just find the simplicity of it so beautiful. Yes, I am actually really drawn to simple designs-I just have a hard time creating them,lol!

So what do you think? I actually really like the way it came out and it took all of about 20 minutes total and that is including figuring out what size to make the panels and what colours to choose. The hardest part was tying the Jingle Bell onto the Cherry Cobbler Bakers Twine with my big fingers:) So really this is about a 10 minute card.

Kindness Matters to a Friend

It's Wednesday and that means time for you to join us for another great challenge at Stampin' Royaly! This week we we have a Sketch Challenge and we would love to have you play along:) Be sure to check all of the Design Teams samples -they really rocked this sketch!

It was super sunny out (NOT complaining) when I took this picture so I apologize for it looking washed out. I used some of my abosolutely FAVOURITE  products on this card. Including 2 of my new go to stamp sets- Kindness Matter and Friendly Phrases (hence the title of this post). Also the Colour Spritzer Tool, the Destressing tool from the Cutter Kit and the colour combo of Calypso Coral with Soft Suede.

The card base is Crumb Cake and was embossed with the Stripes Impression Folder using the Big Shot.  I then added on some Pool Party Card stock to add a small pop of colour, then layered on a piece of First Edition Designer Series Paper that had been stamped with the Hello, Doily Background stamp and I also sponged and spritzed it. I then used the Big Shot again to emboss, this time using one of the Designer Frames Impression Folders.  The sentiment was also framed with one of the tags from the Lots of Tags Sizzlets that had the middle punched out using the Wide Oval Punch. Again a no card is complete with out ribbon, and the Ruffled Ribbon is just gorgeous!

Spooky Bingo Bits!

Wow I am here posting:) I have to admit these past few weeks have been busy ones, but I have lots to share over the next week.  It's time for a fun sketch challenge at Try Stampin' on Tuesday, I figured with halloween less then 2 weeks away I better get into the spirit of it,lol! Be sure to check out what the rest of the Design Team came up with.

Okay so I am one of those people that really does not get into hallowen, in fact my kids reminded me yesterday as we were walking home from school that we had the "lamest" house on the block because we have no decorations up-0ops guess I should get on that:) But oh my gosh the images in Spooky Bingo Bits are so cute that I could not help but to make a halloween card! I really love how clean this sketch is and I know I will be using it again in the near future.

The base of the card is Basic Gray and I then layered on some Frightful Sight Designer Series Paper and also cut a strip from the same pattern and used the other side- love,love, love Stampin' Up!'s DSP. The little "points" that are sticking out from behind the strip is Basic Black Textured card stock that had been die cut with the Big Shot and the Tastseful Trim Die. The large square of Whisper White was dry embossed using the Spider Web Impressions Folder, then sponge with Basic Gray Ink. I couldn't resist cutting out that sweet little spider and putting him on the web.  For the lower right corner I used the Postage Stamp Punch and the 1 1/4" Punch.  Now I seldom make a card with out ribbon, so I just had to add some! The 1/4" Old Olive Grosgrain was tied around, then I added a little tag made with the Jewlery Tag Punch.

Fall Fun with My Digital Studio

Of all the challenges out there my favourite would have to be Inspiration challenges. So I was super excited for this week's challenge at Stampin' Royalty.  The photo collage is perfect for this time of year. Please be sure to check out all the fantastic samples by the design team and we hope you get the chance to play along.

I was short on time to come up with a project for this week, so My Digital Studio to the rescue!  Although truth be told this page was not a quick one,lol! I did do lots of layering and it took me a while to come up with a page layout that I was happy with. I was totally inspired by a page that my friend and fellow Artisan Award Winner Heather Summers did. She is a My Digital Studio Master and I want to be like her when I grow up:) I loved the colours that she used and I just knew that I needed to get some fantastic new downloads. I took these pictures of my youngest on the first day of October but you would never know it, as she insisted on a dress and flip flops! These are the memories that will be fun to look back upon with her when she is older and thinks she knows everything,lol!

I purchased the Autumn Traditions Kit (it contains a ton of stuff including 4 leaf punch images), the Grateful Heart Thanksgiving Ensemble ( there is so much in this one including a fantastic project for creating banners and other party decor) and the Frameable Gratitude Designer Template (this project is all ready to print or you can use images from the 3 piece stamp brush set which is where I got the pumpkins from).

Do Your Little Bit of Good:)

I am back today with a great colour challenge from Stampin' Royalty. The Design Team has come up with some fantastic samples to get your Creative Mojo going. Now for those of you that know me or have been following my blog for any length of time, know that I have a slight adversion to purple:) but what better way to get me to use it then to make me work with it,LOL!

 
The talented ladies at the  SUO Challenge Blog are have having a "Leaves" Challenge so I thought I would play along there as well.

Okay so if you couldn't tell I went back to my comfort zone of sponging and destressing! I figured if I had to use purple I might as well destress the heck out of it:) I started with Naturals Ivory for the card base then sponged the edges with More Mustard and Old Olive Classic inks. Next I used several of the leaf images from French Foliage  and using the Rock and Rock technique I used all of the challenge colours to create a variety of multi toned fall leaves. I then layered on a strip of More Mustard DSP and then a square of Elegant Eggplant. 
 For the main image I stamped the same leaf over and over again, first in So Saffron and then with several of the colours.  The sentiment comes from Pursuit of Happiness and was stamped using Early Espresso. I then added some Old Olive 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon to give another pop of colour and texture.

Live in the Sunshine

Doesn't this card just make you smile?! As soon as I saw the round image on the sketch I knew I wanted to try and create a sunflower and use this sentiment from Pursuit of Happiness. I have been on a bit of a Clean and Simple kick lately as opposed to my usual lots of destressing, sponging and layering:) I think sometimes simple can be just as impactful.

 For the base of the card I started out with Naturals Ivory and then using the Colour Spritzer Tool and a Soft Suede Marker I spritzed the whole base. Next I layered on the four strips of paper using a variety of colours and textures to add interest to the layout. For the main focal point  I created the sunflower using the Blossom Party die and Daffodil Delight card stock and sponged the edges with the matching ink.  The leaves were punched from Old Olive using the Blossom Petals Builder Punch then folded over and ran through the Paper Crimper. For the center of the flower I used one of the Big Pear Pizzazz Designer Buttons from the Spice Cake collection, then punched out a 1 1/4" Soft Suede Circle and embossed it with the Perfect Polka Dots Impressions Folder. I then poked 2  button holes and tied through some White Bakers Twine.

There you have it; a very clean card with a warm fall feel to it!
