Eeek! I apologize that this post is going up soooo late:( I have had a sick little one yet again and things around here have been thrown a little off schedule.
So with that being said we have a great Inspiration Challenge over at Stampin' Royalty this week. The picture is taken straight from page 78 of the current Stampin' Up! Catalogue and showcases the amazing products from the Timeless Portrait Product Suite .
I was really inspired by the colours in the photo and all of the pictures. With Friday being November 11th which is Remembrance Day here in Canada and all of the Commonwealth Countries, I wanted to recognize and pay tribute to all of those people who served their country, fought and lost thier lives, as well as all those who still serve and continue to fight to help create a better life for us all.
I seem to get very emotional this time of year as I was very close to my grandfather (who past away 7 1/2 years ago) and I fondly remember him telling me stories about when he served in the second world war and also reciting the poem In Flanders Fields with him. I took this picture of my daughter last weekend and she is wearing a hat that my wonderful friend and downline Leigha made for her. She created a felt poppy using the Circles #2 Sizzix die and pinned it to the hat. We called my grandfather "Poppie" which I think is another reason why this time of year is especially emotional for me.
Okay so about the page:) There is a lot of playing with the opacity, and drop shadows on this one as well as using a few different overlays to create some "texture" on the page. If you click on the photo to see it larger you will be able to view a little more of the details. I will list the downloads used but as always please let me know if you have any questions.
Supplies used:
My Digital Studio
Downloads: Vintage Overlays, Simple Friendship, Autumn Harvest
Font is CK Chemistry
Have a great day,
LOVE the hat AND the page!

Beautiful. I also get very emotional at this time of year. My grandparents have been gone quite a long time, but my grandfather was in army & my grandmother was an auxilliary member, so November 11th brings memories flooding back for me! Thanks for sharing your story.
