It is Tuesday so that means another fantastic Challenge at Try Stampin' On Tuesday, but this one is even more special. It is sketch #52 and that means TST turns 1 today! I have had the awesome opportunity of being around since shortly after CherylAnn started this fun sketch challenge site and have the privilage of calling all of the wonderful ladies on the design team friends. I just love how stamping can bring people together that may have not otherwise met:) So not only are we asking you to have fun with this week's sketch but we would love for you to join in and help us celebrate by creating a birthday themed project. I am sure you will be inspired by what the amazing Design Team has come up with so be sure to check it out!
Okay so leave it to me to not follow my own sketch, lol! Well I think I did at least to some level:) I was faced with the challenge of creating a birthday card for a 9 year old boy, which in my opion is hard to do considering they don't really notice the card most of the time anyway and it is very important that it not be too "little kiddie". So I decided on stripes, stars and bright colours. The Big Top Birthday Designer Series Paper was a quick and easy choice. For the base of the card I used Tempting Turquiose then layered on a piece of Whisper White, and then a Real Red piece that had been embossed with the Stripes Textured Impressions Folder for some added textured.
The new Labels Collection Framelits Die were used to create a focal point and with the Timeless Type Sizzlets I cut out out the number nine from Silver Glimmer Paper. I felt that the card need some sort of embelishment so I die cut a star from Daffodil Delight card stock and used the Paper Crimper to add dimension, then added a 5/16 Silver Jumbo Brad to the center.
Supplies used:
Stamps: Family Reunion (happy birthday)
Ink: Basic Black
Paper: Big Top Birthday DSP, Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White, Pacific Point, Real Red
Accessories: Big Shot, Labels Framelits, Stars #2 Die, Paper Crimper, Perfect Polka Dots Impression Folder, Stripes Impressions Folder, 5/16 Neutrals Jumbos Brads, White Bakers Twine, 1 1/4" Square Punch
Have a great day!
Now this says party! Love the stars and stripes!
