A New Ink on Life

Hello Kindness

Today we have another great challenge at Stampin' Royalty- Dressing Down.  I will admit it was a tough one for me-*GASP* no buttons, no bling, no ribbon, oh my! That's right we are asking you to add no embellishments to your project. I was amazed by the stunning creations the Design Team came up  with so be sure to check them out!

I think I may just need a Pool Party intervention as it does seem to be my colour of choice lately:) I created a bit of an odd size with this card as it measures 3 1/4 x 6 1/4. I used two stamps that can be earned for FREE during Sale A Bration; Kindness Matters and Elementary Elegance. Poppy Parade, Pool Party, Wisteria Wonder and Daffodil Delight was a fun colour combo to work with and I think it gives a nice fresh and fun feel. And yes here I am again creating banners/flags -I just can't stop,lol!

For the main image I stamped the butterflies in Poppy Parade ink on Confetti White Card stock then using the Colour Spritzer Tool and both Pool Party and Daffodil Delight Markers I spritzed on top of them. Next I used the En Francais Background stamp which was inked with Sahara Sand but I stamped off first
on a scrap paper to lighten the ink. I faintly stamped the small buterfly image from the Elementary Elegance set randomly 3 diferent times. The "Hello" is also from this set and was stamped using Early Espresso Ink.

4 You On Your Birthday- TST#55

It's Tuesday again so that means time to get Sketchy at Try Stampin' on Tuesday! This week's sketch is a very basic layout that I tend to use over and over again. We would love to have you join us and be sure to stop by and see what the rest of the design team has come up with.

Here's my card:

I wanted originally to create a little bit more of a masculine feel to the card and choose a colour scheme of More Mustard, Not Quite Navy, Always Artichocke and Very Vanilla. Not sure if I really would consider it a "guy card" though as I just felt the need to add ribbon:) The base of the card is Not Quite Navy and then I layered on a piece of More Mustard DSP from the Regals Pattern Paper Stack. I sponged the DSP with matching ink and also used the Colour Spritzer Tool with a Sahara Sand Marker.

The main image is one from the Nature Walk Stamp Set and I inked it up using Always Artichoke and Not Quite Navy Markers. I stamped it 3 times but didn't reink in between. I then stamped over it with the Woodgrain Background Stamp that was inked with Crumb Cake, I stamped off first to achieve a lighter colour.

Chevron Fun with My Digital Studio

Have you ever made a project and then afterwards looked at it and thought-really I made this?! That's kind of the way I reacted after finishing this card the other night. I am always looking to different places for inspiration whether it be through blog surfing, craft magazine publications or pieces of art and photographs.

I came across THIS card by Tui Nathan a little while ago and bookmarked for future inspiration as I was totally in love with the layout (well that, and everything else about it). Also I had just gotten a recent copy of a popular paper crafting magazine and couldn't help but notice the overwhelming trend of the Chevron Pattern. So I was totally thrilled when Tuesday came around and Stampin' Up! released it's newest batch of My Digital Studio Downloads. The Eggceptional Easter Template has just gorgeous patterns and at just $3.75 it was the cheapest DSP I have every invested in:) I printed out one of the patterns on Whisper White card stock and this is what I came up with:

I know, *GASP* I made this! It has such clean and simple lines and all those circles, sometimes I even surprise myself LOL. I actually really love the way it turned out and I am finding myself wanting to explore more and more with different types of styles. I used to be afraid of all that white space but now I am trying to embrace it:) Although I really did have to stop myself several times from adding more "stuff" to it:)

Another great thing about this style of card making is that it didn't take very long to make. The ribbon flower is probably the hardest thing about this whole project and it was easily created by taking a piece of Calypso Coral Ruffled Ribbon and tying a knot one one end, then on the other end I just picked a couple of the white threads loose and pulled until I got a very ruffled ribbon. Next I just wound it around itself until it resembled a flower then put an In Colour Polka Dot Designer Brad through the center-very, very easy. To attach it to the card I used a Hot Glue Gun. One thing I did use a lot of on this card was Dimensionals. The whole Very Vanilla embossed front layer is popped up and so is the DSP circle.

I Love to Play with Paper

So today's post is a little bit of a different one. I came across a posting on The Paper Players blog last week that intrigued me; they are looking for 2 new guest designers for their blog for the months of March-May. Now I absolutely love their challenges and the DT always come up with amazing samples for inspiration. I really enjoy jump starting my creativity with a sketch, colour challenge or theme in mind, so I decided I am just going to put myself out there and apply (believe it or not this really is a hard thing for me to do).

My name is Jenn Picard and I have been a Stampin' Up! demonstrator for a little over 4 years. I actually started stamping because I wanted to be polite when a good friend invited me to "some home" party by a company I had never heard of before:) I feel in love imediately with what you could create with a few inks some stamps and paper, and so my paper crafting addict status began, lol. I am actually a make up artist so my love of colour and creating definately helps me with my paper projects. I don't know if I have a particular "style" per say but I do hear quite often that "I knew that was something you made". I love spritzing,  detressing and sponging but I also really love fun, fresh colours. My true passion is scrapbooking and any project containing pictures, I have been known to say that "my brain thinks in pictures". Which is why challenges are so great for my creativity, I have a starting point.

I would love to be part of the Paper Players Design Team because:  a) it gets me creating  b) keeps me focused and c) I love looking at the submissions and visiting all the other wonderful crafting blogs out there. The Paper Players challenges are always so fresh and fun, it would be a privillage to work a long side so many talented paper crafters.

Fresh Vintage Samples

I was just going through through some pictures on my computer and realized that I have yet to share quite a few of the samples that I made for Stampin' Up!'s Leadership Conference.I guess out of sight out of mind, considering most of these were made back the end of November and begining of December. Here are 2 of the samples that I made using the set Fresh Vintage. This is a great versitle set that is probably one of my favourites from Sale a Bration. (Remember you can earn this set for FREE with a minimum $60 purchase but only until March 31st!)

For this card I used the colour combo of Riding Hood Red, Peach Parfait, Baja Breeze and Lucky Limeaide. I drew the colours from the Everyday Enchantment Designer Series Paper, although in the paper it is Poppy Parade and Pool Party.  I found that using Ridng Hood Red for the card base and Baja Breeze Seam Binding for the ribbon, still matched well with the DSP.

Accessories: Big Shot, Beautiful Wings Embosslit, Ovals Original Die, Pool Party Seam Binding, Pearl Jewels, Designer Frames Impressions Folder, Jewlery Tag Punch, Wide Oval Punch

This is just a quick little box made using the Big Shot and SU! exclusive Fancy Favour Die. I used the colour combo of Poppy Parade, Soft Suede, Very Vanilla, Pool Party and Calypso Coral for this one. The base of the box is Poppy Parade Textured Card stock that had been stamped with 2 of the flowers from Fresh Vintage using the matching ink. I created my own paper filling by taking a piece of Soft Suede card stock running it through the Paper Crimper then cutting small slivers using the Table Top Paper Cutter (this is THE best cutter ever!)

A Cup of Thanks

Have you ever looked at a stamp set set and thought "I definately wouldn't be getting that one!" and then you start seeing amazing samples made by your wonderfully crafty friends? Well there have been a few sets lately that I kept resisting the urge to purchase thinking " Will I really use it, do I really NEED that?"  Ummm, and then it happens I can not resist any longer and an order is placed,lol. In fact the last order that I recieved had 3 stamps sets in it that I was "never going to order":) And today's card uses 2 of them!

I had thought that the Tea Shoppe Set was nice but maybe not that practical, but after seeing so many amazing and versitle projects I caved! And then there is the Sweet Floral Background Stamp, I tend to not buy very many background stamps because there are so many fabulous Designer Series Paper patterns and I am addicted to using my Textured Impressions Folders, however sometimes you just can't beat a nice big image. And in this case I found these two sets really work well together. I started with a Pool Party card base then layered on a large piece of Crumb Cake that had been stamped on using VersaMark and the Sweet Floral Background stamp and I detressed the edges using the Cutter Kit. Hopefully no one is getting sick of the Attic Boutique DSP as I certainly am not and have lots more projects to come using it:)

I ordered the *Tea Shoppe set in Clear mount so I could cut the image with the 3 tea cups apart. That way I can mount them individually or together when I stamped the images. (shhh a little secret-I am a bit of a lazy stamper and masking takes too much time.lol!) Here I stamped the one tea cup and cut it out using my paper snips. I stamped the floral image using Calypso Coral Ink  on Whiper White then punch it out with the 1 3/8 Circle Punch and spritzed it using the Color Spritzer Tool and a Crumb Cake Marker. The sentiment was stamped using Soft Suede and then cut into a little flag, I also added a punched DSP flower and a cute little Pearl Jewel. Baker's Twine seems to be super trendy right now in paper crafting so I was super excited to see lots more colour in the Occasion Mini Catalogue; here I used Calypso Coral Baker's Twine. To add another pop of colour I used my favourite go to punch-the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch and Calypso Coral Card stock.

So Many Smiles.....Begin with Flowers

It's Wednesday so that means time to get creative with a new challenge at Stampin' Royalty! This week we are challenging you to get colourful with a fresh and fun colour combo that imediately made me think of flowers (and apparently I was not the only one,lol). So be sure to check out the fab samples from the design team and we hope you can play along with us this week:)

Not sure why but when working with these colours I felt the need to create lots of white space and clean lines. Normally I am all about sponging and destressing:) The base of the card is Whisper White then I layered on using Dimensionals, another piece of Whisper White that had been embossed with the Stripes Impressions Folder. Next I created a large Daffodil Delight flag that was embossed using the Perfect Polka Dots Impressions Folder and used the debossed side to add contracting texture.

The bold flower was made using the Blossom Punch and a few pieces from the Blossoms Builder Designer Printed Kit. I used the Paper Crimper on the Cherry Cobbler and Daffodil Delight pieces to add even more Texture. As a fun little element I took some Lucky Limeaide Organza Ribbon (a FREE Sale A Bration choice) and curled it by wrapping it around the end of my Paper Piercer. I added a sentiment from Pettite Pairs and the inside of the card reads "...begin with you!" So cute!

To My Friend

It's Tuesday so that means time for another fun sketch at Try Stampin' on Tuesday. We are welcoming 3 new deisgners to our team so be sure to check them out and all the amazing samples we have for you this week!

I must say Crumb Cake is by far one of my favourites to work with. It is such a great neutral to add pops of colour to like I did here. And I am absolutely LOVING the Attic Boutique Designer Series Paper from the current Occasions Mini Catalogue. I created a tone on tone layering with the Crumb Cake card stock and embossed the top layer with the Elegant Lines Impressions Folder. I of course had to pull out my Colour Spritzer Tool (everyone NEEDS one of these:) and use it with a Calypso Coral Stampin' Write Marker.

Next I layered on two strips of DSP and added a Calypso Coral punched border to one of them. Then using the Labels Framelit and the Beautiful Wings Embosslit I die cut some different patterns of DSP also from the Attic Boutique pack and popped them up on Dimesionals. And there you have it; a very Clean and Simple card!

Love U with Outlined Occasions

Had I been more organized I would have posted this project sooner but just because Valentine's Day is over doesn't mean you can't give someone you love a little something:)

It uses the 3 of the stamps from Outlined Occasions which is one of the FREE stamps sets that can be earned during Stampin' Up!'s Sale A Bration promotion. I also used a new favourite Colour Combination of mine; Blushing Bride, Pool Party, Poppy Parade  and Chocolate Chip with a touch of Calypso Coral. It was fun to combine sentiments with this set as the "so very much" usually would go with the "thanks" stamp, but I decided to create "love U so very much" by adding a die cut letter. I'll just list the supplies as this project is pretty simple but if you have any questions just let me know.

Last Minute Valentine's- My Digtal Studio to the Rescue!

It is Wednesday and unfortunately I do not have a sample for this week's Stampin' Royalty Challenge, but be sure to check out what the rest of the Design Team came up with for this week-they totally rocked it!

I have been crazy busy this last week and a half and my youngest was sick over the weekend with croup again:( So needless to say there was no Valenetine's cards being made on Saturday and Sunday, considering she was sick and my other two each had a soccer game on both days!  That left me scrambling Monday night to help 3 kids come up with 70 Valentine's in total! Thankfully the youngestest wasn't having her preschool party until today, so of course I helped the other two get theirs done. ( and forgot to take pictures,lol!)

Anyway today was Isabelle's party and she had changed her mind a hundred times; like most four year olds, so this morning I decided to just CASE a really cute idea I have been seeing all over the internet.

I took this picture of her:

Did a little My Digital Studio Magic:

Printed them on matte presentation paper (I used Espon Ultra Premium).

And added a heart shaped lollipop!

She was super excited to bring them to her friends and I was glad to finally be done!  My Digital Studio was definately a time saver for this project. All she had to do was print her name on the back and of course stamp a pink heart:) I can not say enough about this programs versatility.
