Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend! It is Sunday so that means another fabulous challenge at The Paper Players. This week the fantastic Nance is our hostess for our CAS challenge featuring BUTTONS. Now I will tell you I have lots of them, in fact I have a bit of a hoarding issue with them (as I do with most accessorries:) so it was great to actually use more then 1 on a single project. I will also admit that my card turned out a lot differently then planned too. Originally I was thinking rainbows with buttons but when you see all the amazing samples that the talented Design Team came up with you will understand why I went a different route, lol!
So for inspiration I turned to the lastest challenge at CASE Study. This month they are featuring the lovely Laura Bassen as their muse and here is this week's card for inspiration:
And here's what I came up with:
I absolutely love the cute little die cut images of the houses with the heart center, the beautiful bright colours and yummy baker's twine so that is what I used for my inspiration. I started with a base of Pool Party then layered on a piece of Island Indigo. To create the hills I freehand cut some Certainly Celery DSP (from the Subtles Paper Stack) and sponged the edges. The bright happy sun was made using a 1 1/4" Circle Punch, Petite Pennant Builder Punch and some Daffodil Delight Buttons.
I have had the On Board Merry Melody Chipboard forever (again the hoarding thing :) and knew the house image would be perfect for this card. To create the heart center I used the smallest die from the Hearts Collection Framelits. *Note try this at your own risk as technically you are not suppose to use these die with chipboard*, but it worked fine on mine however did not cut all the way through. Which I was fine with because I really like how it created the embossed outline around the heart and also cut deep enough to raise the center of it. I then added a Bitty Button heart that was attached to a Cherry Cobbler heart punched out with the Heart To Heart Punch. I stamped the clouds from the stamp set Send Me Soaring in Pool Party Ink and the sentiment is from Pursuit of Happiness.
So I challenge you to break out your buttons and join us this week at The Paper Players, seriously the amazingly talented Design Team is full of awesome inspiration and we would love to have you join us!
Have a great day!
Love those little houses! I almost got a custom made die in that shape a few years ago and then found out the cost! so i didn't! I so wanted to make a house shaped mini album! Thank-you for the inspiration!

Your card is so sweet! I love how you used the buttons in the perfect way, accenting just a little something here, a little something there. The "scene" you have created makes me feel calm and I really would like to "live in the sunshine". Too bad we've got a wet Spring ahead of us here in Oregon! Have a great weekend, Jenn!

Jenn, this is fantastic! Your designs are always so fresh and this one is no exception. Love the naked chipboard house and your clever use of the pennant punch for the sun rays. Adorable placement of the buttons and those hills are to die for! All 'round fabulous card, my friend!

Jen such a cute spring card. It reminds of my chores today... cleaning winddows to let the sun shine in!...also reminds me I have tons of the cardboard punch outs sitting on my shelf! hugs.

Jenn, I love what you did with this challenge and how you added those yellow buttons to the sun. Seems you and I share the same hoarding of the buttons. :)
