Halloween Sweet Pressed Cookies!

Well today is halloween so I figured that I better show you a project to go with the holiday. I will admit though that I am not a huge halloween fan, now I know some of you are over the top with the decorations and costumes, which is totally fun but it has just never been my thing,lol! I however do have children who love dressing up and get quite excited for the day to arrive so I might as well use the opportunity to get a little crafty:)

My youngest is in kindergarten this year and she loves making things with me, which I totally enjoy but it has to be something that she is able to do with out a lot of stress on me. You see I am a little bit of a control freak and find the overwhelming need to make sure things are done a certain way so the key is easy projects!

I have always loved baking even as a child and I am sure a lot of us remember baking cookies with our mom or dad and how fun it was to mix the dough and watch them bake. So what could be even more fun then baking and stamping?! Stampin' Up! has these awesome Sweet Pressed Cookie Stamps and we just used the sugar cookie receipe that comes with them but added a little orange food colouring to the dough. Then we rolled it into balls and Isabelle "stamped" the pumpkin face from the Holiday set.

Now of course yummy cookies have to have cute packing so we used the premade tags from the Ghoulish Googlies Designer Kit. All she had to do was stamp the images from Googly Ghouls and add the super cute Googlie eyes. We then put them into 4x6" Cello Bags and tied them closed with Lucky Limeaide Baker's Twine. And for an added little treat we also attached a fun bat or spider plastic ring. A very fun and stress free halloween project!

Snow Swirled Shimmer

It's Tuesday so that means time for another fun sketch at Try Stampin' on Tuesday! I know tomorrow is halloween but I couldn't help but to make a Christmas card:) Be sure to check out what the rest of the design team came up with and I hope you can join us this week!

I was working on some cards for an upcoming class that focuses on using products that shimmer and glitter and of course I fell in love with the new Illuminate Glimmer Watermark Ink Pad. So I couldn't resist using it again for this card along with the gorgeous Silver Glimmer Paper.

If you click on the above photo you should be able to see the shimmer from the ink a little better. I just wish there was a way to capture in a photo how pretty it is IRL.  I have been trying to restrain myself lately from buying new stamps set (can't say that it has been going well,lol!) so have been focusing on using Christmas sets that I already have rather then needing to get new ones. Snow Swirled is one of those classic, pretty and elegant sets . For my colour combo I chose Midnight Muse, Pool Party, Cherry Cobbler and Whisper White. I think they look so good with the silver paper.

Googlie Ghouls-BOOOOO

Well halloween is officially a week away and over at Stampin' Royalty we want you to show us your halloween projects! I don't usually send halloween cards but I couldn't help but make one using this week's colours from ColourQ and the super cute Googlie Ghouls set.

I didn't have any Kiwi Kiss so I substituted with Lucky Limeaide:)

Eek-who would have thought a mummy and a spider could be so cute! This was a really quick card to put togther and I think it would be cute to give with the Googlie Ghouls Gum Holder that I made. The base of the card is Lucky Limeaide then I layered on a large piece of Whisper White that had been embossed with the Spider Web Impressions Folder.  The patterned paper is from the Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper and I just cut two strips then forked the ends using the 1 1/4" Square Punch. The cute little mummy was stamped using Jet Black StazOn then punched out with the Decorative Label Punch. To finish it off I added a Rich Razzleberry button from the Brights Designer Buttons.

Fabulous Phrases Birthday

It's time for another fun sketch at Try Stampin' on Tuesday! I think this week's sketch has a ton of possibilities, so I hope you will join us. And for some more inspiration to get your stamping mojo going be sure to check out the rest of the Design Teams Samples!

I needed yet another birthday card for a party last weekend, this time it was one my oldest daughter was attending. I wanted the card to to colourful and fun but because this was a tween/teen party I had to make sure it wasn't to young or to girly looking:) I think I maybe a little stuck on using the Papillion Potpourri, can't help it I just love that set!

For the base of the card I used Pool Party then layered on a piece of DSP from the Storytime Designer Series Paper. The words from Fabulous Phrases were also stamped on DSP from the same pack. A very CAS layout but I think effective. I had to laugh because according to my daughter, I think the birthday girl's mom enjoyed the card more then she did!

Daydream Medallions Christmas

Okay so I know we have not even had Halloween yet but I am sure a lot of you are already working on Christmas projects  as it seems to be the busiest time of year for sending cards and creating handmade gifts. When I first saw the Daydream Medallions stamp set, I imediately thought Christmas.

So today I decided to share two Christmas ideas using this set and later this week I will post some other samples using it in a more traditional way.

This is a card stock picture ornament that I created using the stamp set and matching Floral Frames Framelits.

I embossed the largest image using Wild Wasabi Embossing Powder and added tiny Pearls Jewels. I also added a pearl to the center of the Antique Brad, the sentiment is from Petite Pairs.

For this card I created a shaker card using the awesome Shaker Frames, Floral Frames Framelits and a Window Sheet.

 

I stamped the images using Gumball Green Ink then die cut them out. For the inside of the shaker I added some beautiful Champagne Glass Glitter mixed with some Dazzling Diamonds.

Toxic Treats and Howlstooth Layout

Well last night was the first meeting of my scrapbook club and oh my what a great bunch of women! It was so fun to meet them all and I look forward to the next 5 months of creating with them. With my scrapbook clubs I create a two page layout every month focusing on a specific designer series paper and stamp set. This month we used the Howlstooth and Scaringbone DSP and the Toxic Treats Stamp set.

On this page I also added the Toxic Frameable Digital Designer Template for My Digital Studio but resized to 4x 5 1/4 to fit the layout and it works as a great title. We talked about how the mixing of B/W and colour pictures can really add interest to a page and how also to not be afraid to mix things up by using to different coloured 12x12 for the base of a 2 page layout.

The blank piece of Very Vanilla is perfect for journaling on or will also fit a 3 1/2x5 photo. I love how the Whisper White Craft Ink looks on the Basic Black card stock.

Lacy and Lovely Thank You

So I know it is Wednesday but today I have my Try Stampin' on Tuesday post. I have had some issues with my internet connection as well as power outages so I am posting this a day late-hopefully it is worth the wait:) We would love to have you join us for this week's sketch and be sure to check out what the rest of the Design Team came up with.

I wish you could see how this card shimmers in real life. I started with a base of Basic Gray and then added a River Rock layer that was embossed using the Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions Folder. I then sprayed the whole piece with homemade shimmer mist (I made this by placing about 3-4 drops of Champange Shimmer Paint in to a SU! Spritzer Bottle and filling the rest with 70% Isopropyl Alcohol). On the upper right hand side I notched out a half circle using the 3/4" Circle Punch.

The sentiment is from the Lacy and Lovely stamp set and was die cut using the Labels Framelits. I also die cut the next largest label from Brushed Silver card stock and paper pierced around the shape using the Festive Paper- Piercing Pack. The Primerose Petal DSP is from the Afternoon Daydream Simply Scrappin' Kit. I scrunched up some Very Vanilla Seam Binding then pleated it on a piece of Sticky Strip along the DSP. The flower image is also from Lacy and Lovely and was stamped in Primrose Petal ink then cut out. To finish the card off I added a Vintage Faceted Button with some Linen Thread.

Happy Day to You Butterflies

My youngest daughter had another birthday party to attend this weekend, oh the social life of a 5 year old:) So I need to come up with another quick and simple card and Freshly Made Sketches had the perfect sketch designed by the ever so talented Rita this week!

                                    

This card is about as simple as it gets but I still think it turned out pretty cute:) I changed up the sketch a little by tilting the back panel and the main image slightly to off set each other and add a little interest. ( *TIP:this is also a great trick to disguise the fact that I stamped the sentiment a little crooked:)

I started with Pool Party for the card base then added a piece of So Saffron. The main image panel is Whisper White and I stamped two of the butterflies from Papillion Potpourri using Pool Part and So Saffron Inks. I then stamped another butterfly on a scrap of Pink Pirouette using Cherry Cobbler Ink and punched it out with the Elegant Butterfly Punch. The sentiment is from Friendly Phrases and I again used some of the Designer Series Paper from the Bandstand Simply Scrappin' Kit. Lastly I added some Wild Wasabi 1/4" Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon.

Stampin' Fun with Friends

First let me start off this post my saying that this maybe a long winded post:) As I mentioned earlier in the week I was very lucky to be able to have a small road trip to Tacoma Washington with some wonderful women and attend a Stampin' Up! Regional Training Event. Stampin' Up! has brought so many amazing people into my life that I otherwise may have never met and for that I am truly grateful. I took lots of pictures of display boards and project ideas but I thought I would first start with showing you my swap card.

Now for anyone one that knows me, knows that I do NOT do well with having to create the same thing over and over again, and they also know that I will be finishing up things right down to the very last minute,lol! So I had cut and stamped enough supplies to bring 20 of these cards with me and well lets just say I finished 12, I think ( and yes I was assembling them in the hotel room:) But I am happy with the way it turned out. I decided to design my card using the same layout that I had used HERE.

The base of the card is Basic Black then I layered on a piece of River Rock. Next I took a piece of the Cherry Cobbler Core'dinations card stock and embossed it using the Lacy Brocade Impressions Folder and sanded the raised portions to reveal the lighter colour. An ornament from Delightful Decorations was stamped using Baja Breeze and punched out with the Ornament Punch. I created 3 banner strips from the First Edition Designer Series Paper and forked the ends using a 1 1/4" Square Punch. The sentiment is from Greetings of the Season and was stamped using Jet Black StazOn. Both the sentiment piece and the DSP strips were generously spritzed using the Colour Spritzer Tool and a Basic Gray Marker.

The stamp sets that we used for the make and takes were Clockworks and One in a Million I would show you them but I didn't finish mine:) Instead I'll show you a picture of the display board. I must say that I don't have either of these sets but after seeing these amazing samples they are now on my wishlist!

So now comes the pictures of the women that I went with and let's just say it certainly was a road trip adventure!

This is Paula, myself and Sandra at the end of the day. We were actually there well after everyone was gone (if you look closely you will see there are no table cloths left on the tables) because Paula had brought a guest with her and she decided to sign up while we were there. But narrowing down her wishlist to decide what to order in her Starter Kit took awhile:) Shelli (yes THE Shelli CEO and Cofounder of SU!) even came over and chatted with us for while they were finishing the paper work. Such an amazing day!

And finally I will leave you with this picture of Sandra and I. Yes I am sitting on her, it was at the end of the day and I think I was giddy from extreme lack of sleep (I only got about an hour and a half the night before) and too much caffine:).
