EMBRACE..... only 7 letters but to me I think this is such a powerful word with so much meaning and that is why I choose it this year for my "one little word" or my version of Ali's One Little Word concept. I have been toying with the idea about having "a word" for the past few years and decided last month that 2014 was the year to "embrace" this concept:) Words can be powerful and I really think focusing on one important word through out the year can certainly help bring clarity.
When I looked up the definition for my word here is what I found:
em·brace
So why did I choose Embrace? Well, here's the thing about me-I am not very good at accepting things as they are, I have to question everything and challenge things if I feel that it is not the way "I" think it should be. *sigh* sometimes this can be a good thing other times (a lot of times), it is not. I am not spontanious at all, I don't really ever "live in the moment" I need to know about "the moment" before it happens or I can get bent out of shape really easily. I do not ever "go with the flow" and I one thing I have learned sadly is that I am stressing out and missing out on a lot of things; especially when it comes to my children. So this is the year to embrace all things-the good, the bad and the ugly!
Speaking of embracing, I am in love with the fun script lettering that I have seen popping up all over the place in the paper crafting world! So I thought I would try my hand at it and a few things that I have learned are a) it is way harder then it looks and b) now I am really glad that I signed up for the Life l Scripted Class at Studio Calico. I mean there is no doubt that Kal Barteski is the master of script so when Studio Calico announced it's February Class I jumped right in and signed up!
Here's a video peek at Kal's work:
Doesn't that look like fun? You can find several of the items Kal suggested for the class right HERE in the Studio Calico shop. Hope to "see" you get inky in the class, as I know that these cool script skills can translate to so many different types of projects!
Oh and I would love to hear from you and if you plan to take on One Little Word this year, just leave me a message in the comments:)
Have a great day!
