Walden Revealed

Happy reveal day! Today's the day that the Studio Calico November Kits and Add ons and revealed and I can now share what I created using the Walden release.

I have to admit this kit producted some of my most favourite cards that I have made.

Here is a look at the four cards that I made using just the Main Card Kit:

I had a wonderful time playing with water and colour for this month's Walden Gallery. Using Watercolour Paper was definitely a must for me and so was my Watercolour Brush. I love how I can stamp a solid image on this paper using regular die inks like the awesome Color Theory Inks and then "paint" over the image with the water brush to create a watercolour look. It is so fun and easy to do and it almost makes me feel like an artist, lol.

For this month's reveal there were also items that were a most order for me. I of course subscribe to the Project Life Kit and love that happy mail every month. But I, like everyone get super excited to see what new products come at the monthy reveal. 

Here are a few products that I could not resist putting in my cart today:

This awesome stamp set by Cathy Zielske. I may have already purchased 4 other Christmas stamp set but this one was just too perfect for December Daily/Project Life and card making, that straight into my cart it went!

The new Color Theory Ink Pad colours. I think I may just love ink as much as stamps. Seriously I wouldn't want to count how many I own, but I know there is always a need for great colours and I simply adore the way these take up little space and stack so neatly together.

I have the Gold and the Clear and LOVE them so much that I just had to order the Silver. I mean, I have never found a more perfect product for adding just the right amount of glitter/sparkle to a project with ZERO mess!

And I certainly couldn't resist these fabulous gold "splatters" from Ashley Goldberg. These are just wonderful for creating the popular paint splatter look but with precision and again no mess. The type A person in me loves the idea of knowing exactly what the splatter will look like and where it will go before adding it to the paper. Don't get me wrong I love my mists but sometimes they may not land exactly where and how I want them. This solves that problem perfectly!

It's Almost Time!

Studio Calico's November Kits are almost here! So I thought I better pop in and share a little peek at what I did with the Waldon Card Kit and Add On Stamps.

November's Card Kit is full of cute kraft die cut labels, 6x6 paper pad featuring soft greens, tans blues and woodgrain patterns, wood veneers, an exclusive stamp set desined by 1Canoe2 and much more.

I definitely had a few favourites that used this month while working with the kit. First off I think everyone needs to have a ZIG Wink of Stella Brush Marker. These are sheer genius, and come in Gold, Silver and Clear. They are absolutely perfect for adding just the right amount of glitter to a project with no mess! Also I couldn't have lived with out my Versamark Ink Pad and Gold Glitter ZING powder.And Mister Huey's Mists are always on my must have list. This month I was partial to Opague White, Gold and Inky Black. I also played a lot with water this month so my Watercolor Brush was always close at hand.

There are also several Add On Stamps for November and I had the pleasure of working with to of them.

Here is a little peek at the Wreath Stamp set designed by Tina. I created a cute and quick tag using the set as well as stamping one of the sentiments all over a little kraft gift box.

And this is a peek at the Holiday and New Year set designed by Marcy. For this card I used the gorgeous woodgrain paper from the card kit and and stamped directly on it. I figured celebrating the New Yerar called for some Glittery heat embosses and gold mist of course:)

I was so inspired by the printable that I thought it would be fun to resize it and use it on a card and also create a card for my Project Life album. One of things that inspires me most is COLOUR. I love looking for different colour combinations all over the place. Sometimes I can find inspiration inthe strangest places, so I always keep my eye open for unique and interesting colour combinations. The colours in this printable coordinate so perfectly with all of the October Studio Calico The Underground Kits. The golden hues, forest and soft greens and my favourite colour-orange, are all such a wonderful mix of colours for fall. 

Here is a close up look at the cute fall card I created by resizing the printable to 3 3/4x5". I then matted it with a piece of patterned paper from the Card Kit and added a few sprays and drops of mists. To add a little dimension I used the feather metal die included in the kit to die cut some of the gorgeous bronze paper that, you guessed it-is included in the awesome October card kit:) I just love metal dies, they are so quick and easy to use!

Here I printed the card 3x4 and rounded the corners so it perfectly matched up with the October Project Life Kit.I think it looks like it was meant to be in this kit! I printed out a few photos then pulled out a few of my favourite cards along with some embelishments from the kit. I am really loving the bronze rub ons and that super cute and versitile stamp set. Of course because no project is complete with out stamping I selected a few Color Theroy Inks that I thought would go perfectly with my soon to be assembled PL page:)

Card Making Fun

Last Saturday was World Card Making Day and I had the chance to sit down and stamp a few cards just for fun before my weekend was taken over by soccer. I also had a ton of fun hosting a challenge over on the Studio Calico Message Boards. It was so great to see so many beautiful cards pop up in the gallery. 

My challenge was to add colouring to your card with markers, paints, pencils water colours etc. All that was required was to use some type of colouring medium. Now I love colouring, especially watercolouring so I made not 1 but 3 cards for the challenge. I also have recently jumped on the bandwagon of COPIC markers and decided to use them on 2 of my cards, even though I am not sure how to proprly use them yet,lol.

For this card I used a gorgeous stamp set that was exclusively created by 1Canoe2 for a Studio Calico Kit back in July. I stamped the flower images using Memento Ink then coloured them in using COPICS. The sentiment was stamped using Versamark then embossed with my favourite Gold Glitter ZING. 

This card was super fun and easy to create as I just used some Peerless Transparent Watercolor Papers with a Watercolour Brush to create a rainbow background. The key to this is to use Watercolor Paper. I like to pick up a little colour and then add it to the paper using back and forth strokes. I also keep a paper towel hand to dab away any excess water from the paper and then add more colour if need. Next I misted and dropped on some Opaque White Mister Huey's , I love how the splatters muted the colours a little and created almost a water spot effect. Now it is no secret that I love/adore stamps sets and matching dies, so when Studio Calico released the Totally Awesome Set I had to order it:)

Now this card is totally a strentch from my usual style (not that I know how to really define my style) but I loved the House stamp and matching House Guest stamps when I saw them and thought it would be a fun challenge for me to work with it. This card took a lot of stamping, masking and colouring but it was so worth it! 

Now the next thing on my to do list is to start on my Christmas cards. Every year I say I am going to make them and get them sent out but ummmm well hate to admit it but I have failed miserably for the past few years. So I am super excited to be taking the Send Joy Class with Lisa Spangler, one of my favourite cardmakers ever!
