I'll admit that Valentine's Day is not huge on my radar. Yes, I do enjoy the chocolate and especially the cinnamon hearts (I have been know to eat them until my tongue and teeth are bright red:) But with my kids getting older I think this maybe the last year that we do any type of classroom treats for the youngest and being in grade four I am not even sure if it is still "cool" to hand them out. However I do still enjoy making Valentine's Day cards, lol.
This month the Splitcoaststampers' Creative Crew was given the theme of "Love is in the Air" and for the Step It Up Challenge I of course made some Valentine's Day cards.
Taking a basic design and then stepping it up by adding extra layers stamping and embellishments is a great way to take a nice card and give it a WOW factor!
There is just something about this colour combination that I love. I think it is the way Crumb Cake really makes the other two colours pop. I know, I know, white is technically a colour, but you know what I mean. It was easy to create this card with minimal supplies. Thin strips of DSP in contrasting patterns give really pop against the plain crumb cake card stock.
For the stepped up version I added background stamping using Versamark and Whisper White craft ink and replaced one of the DSP strips with some pretty organza ribbon. I did something fun with the sentiment on this one and actually used my Heat and Stick Powder with Gold Glitter to create a really pretty glittery effect with no glitter fall off. Total confession time here; I have had the Heat and Stick Powder for close to 9 years and had never opened it before! But I am so glad i did as it is easy to use and makes the glitter stick flawlessly.
Hope you enjoyed these two versions of the same card and remember that Sale a bration is still going on so you can earn FREE products with each $60 purchase. You can shop right from my website but if you have any question please feel free to contact me:)
