Welcome back to the Fancy Friday Blog Hop! We are a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators that have been or are currently on the Artisan Design Team. We love sharing our passion for creating with all of you and hope to inspire along the way.
This week were were challenged to create cards that we actually intend, are going to mail. We are hopping aboard the #mailacardmonday movement and I hope you will join us. This was one challenge I am excited to get on board with and I couldn't think of a better theme than Friendship to start with. I have been very blessed to have met some amazing people along my paper crafting journey over the past 10 years and it is about time that I let them know how special they are to me.
I created two cards with matching envelopes and even got a little watercolouring in! This was my best attempt at mailable cards. I tried to keep the layers to a minimum, but you know me I had to get in a little ribbon, dimesionals and a few rhinestones.
I started with the beautiful watercolour looking Naturally Eclectic DSP. I love the colour palette in this paper and surprisingly Berry Burst recently has made it's way on to one of my favourite colurs list. The new Occasions Catalogue is full of beautiful and inspiring products but I absolutely fell in love with the Petal Passion Suite and having been dying to finally sit down and play with the stamp set and coordinating dies.
I die cut a circle from watercolour paper and gave it a watercolour wash using an Aqua Painter and Pool Party Ink. I then stamped the floral image on watercolour paper as well and then watercoloured it with Peekabook Peach, Lemon Lime Twist and Tranquil Tide. I wanted to add a little texture to the card so I added some of the Crinkled Seam Binding. This ribbon is so easy to work with, it very lightweight and easily lays flat so perfect for mailing.
This next card took a little bit of experimenting to come together. I knew I wanted to using the amazing Wood Textures DSP and I also wanted to continue watercolouring, I find it so relaxing and colouring is such a great way to destress. The Southern Serenade Stamp Set was the #1 item on my wishlist when I first got a peek at the Occasions Catalogue. It is simply stunning and there are so many possibilities on how to use it.
I stamped the floral image on a piece of the whitewashed DSP using Fresh Fig Ink, then proceeded to watercolour it using Sweet Sugar Plum and Lemon Lime Twist Classic Inks and an Aqua Painter. I used a little bit of colour at a time then continued to layer it. The background dark woodgrain piece of DSP was stamped using the beautiful distressed lacy image, I also stamped that image on the whitewashed DSP before stamping the flowers. The great thing about this card is I was able to create a look of different textures by simply layering some stamped images on the wood grain paper. To finish the card off I simple added a Linen Thread double bow.
So there you have it, two cards that will soon be in the mail and on there way to two very special people. Now we challenge you to get stamping and send a little happy mail.
Next on the hop is the incredibly Cathy Caines from In The Cat Cave
