Welcome back to the Fancy Friday Blog Hop! We are a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators that have been or are currently on the Artisan Design Team. We love sharing our passion for creating with all of you and hope to inspire along the way. We even have a few new Fancy Friends added to our hop this month, welcome to the very talented Mindy Backes and Lauren Alaird.
For this month's challenge we were INSPIRED by the by the True Gentleman Suite on page 44-45 in Occasions Catalogue. The Occasions Catalogue is only current until the end of May and there are so many fabulous stamp sets and papers that will no longer be available so be sure to get them before they are gone! Unfortunately the True Gentleman DSP is sold out already but I create 2 projects for this month's challenge one using the paper and for the other I was inspired by the colours and feel of the suite.
Scrapbooking has always been my passion when it comes to paper crafting. Unfortunately over the past year couple of years I haven't made it a major priority, but I am trying to rectify that:) There is nothing more rewarding then catching one of my children flipping through past albums and smiling while they are recalling those memories.
My son is on his High School Track Team and thankfully the one of the coaches recognizes the importance of photos and invested in a great camera and lens for the team. A student captured these shots and I couldn't be more thrilled to have them!
One of my favourite embillishments from the current Stampin' Up! catalogue are the cute little wood pieces. I felt the stars worked perfectly with the masculine theme of the challenge.
This is one of my simpler scrapbook pages, but as my oldest daughter seems to continuously remind me; sometimes you don't need a lot of "stuff". I tried to keep that in mind when creating the page, choosing to start with a 12x12 Crumb Cake card stock for a base. I knew I wanted to create clean lines and decided on a grid layout for the photos. A lot of times when I am stuck for ideas of where to start with a project I will start with a good sketch as a jumping off point. I found this one on Pinterest and knew it would work perfectly for this photos. The most important thing to keep in mind when creating a layout is making sure the the page has a sense of balance, because I decided to add my title to the bottom right of the page, I added two strips of DSP and embellishments to the top left to offset it.
For the second project I created a masculine birthday card. One thing that this challenge made me realized was that I really have A LOT of floral stamps sets, and very few sets that will work for masculine theme projects. I guess that just means I will be ordering a bunch of new stamp sets come June 1st;)
The Birthday Wit Stamp set is in the Occasions Catalogue and retiring at the end of May, but you can count on the fact that this is one set I will never part with, it just has way too many perfect sentiments for all of your witty and sarcastic friends. I stamped the sentiment in both Night of Navy and Tranquil Tide on Very Vanilla card stock then cut them into word strips.
The Woodgrain DSP is perfect for a masculine card and I was so happy to learn that it will be carried over into the new SU! Catalogue that goes live on June 1st! I stamped some leaves from Painted Harvest in Crumb Cake directly on the DSP to give it some more interest and depth. The wooden buttons and twine help to create some texture and add dimension to the design.
Thank you for visting today and be sure to continue on to the next blog on the hop belonging to my fabulously talented fancy friend Sue Plote.
As always please feel free to contact me with any questions and listed below you will find the products I used for today's projects with a direct link to my online store.
