This week's challenge at the Global Design Project is to CASE the designer. I love a good challenge and when I saw that the designer was the very talented Charlet Mallett I knew I had to find the time to play along this week!
CASEing (Copy And Selectively Edit) is a great way to have a starting point for a project. I love Charlet's card, the colours, clean lines and use of contrasting pattered papers.
I very much copied the main base layout with layering DSP and banner. I started with a Whisper white card base and added on a piece of DSP from the Wood Textures pack that covered the whole card front. I then layered on 3 different patterns from the Nature's Poem DSP.
The leaves were die cut and embossed using the coordinating Nature's Roots Framelits. Using an Aquapainter the leaves were watercoloured with Blackberry Bliss, Grapefruit Grove and Soft Suede inks. I just smooh the top of the inkpad while closed so that ink transfers to the inside of the lid then pick up the colour with the Auquapainter. The sentiment was stamped directly onto a piece of DSP using Versamark then heat embossed with Copper embossing powder. I layered the watercoloured leaves, some Copper thread and vellum leaves that were punched out using the Leaf punch.
A few Metallic sequins were added to give a little more texture and dimension, plus I love a little bling;). Thank you for the inspiration Charlet and the Global Design Project for bringing such great challenges every week.
