Welcome back to the Fancy Friday Blog Hop! We are a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators that have been or are currently on the Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team. We love sharing our passion for creating with all of you and hope to inspire along the way.
This month we are focusing on families. Our challenge is to make a card, scrapbook page or project for a family member. Think birthdays, special events or just because. I decided to create a card for my youngest daughter who will be turning 12 in less then two weeks.
I knew I didn't want to create a card with the typical birthday greeting. I wanted to make a card that expressed how very amazing I think she is. I used the Strong & Beautiful Stamp set and on the inside stamped the "You have what it takes to be unstoppable and I couldn't be more proud" sentiment. This stamp set is an absolutely must have, it has so many beautiful phrases and sentiments for those special people in your life.
I also knew it needed to be something bright and fun to reflect Isabelle's personality. The background was created by putting a few drops of Berry Burst Reinker into a Stampin' Spritzer and misting it onto Watercolour paper. Using a palette Knife I mixed some Champagne Shimmer Paint into White Embossing Paste and spread it over one of the Pattern Party Masks. In person it has such a pretty shimmer to it. A small strip of Lime Lime Twist DSP from the 2017-2019 In Colour DSP Pack and some Berry Burst Mini Ruffled Ribbon was layered behind the die cut sentiment.
Now I can't share a photo of the card I made without sharing a photo of the awesome kid I made it for;) she is my wild child, full of spunk and is so kind and caring too.
This was Isabelle last Halloween dressed up as Harley Quin from DC Comics. As you can see from the photo she is quite the character! Making this card for her was more than just a birthday card. She has had a some really challenging times these past few years. As a parent it is so hard to watch your child struggle and feel like you are not being heard or understood. A year and a half ago she was diagnosed with a Learning Disability, although we choose to use the term Learning Difference, which really is all that it is and subsequently ADD. Then this past fall we got a diagnoses of Auditory Processing Disorder and we finally are now on the right track of understanding how her brain learns and absorbs information. With the right modifications and supports in place we are now seeing her thrive again. I want her to know that no matter her challenges, she IS brilliant and truly does shine in whatever she does. I truly believe that this kid will one day change the world. I also want to say that I know there are so many parents of kids out there that may be struggling, I know how hard it is and I know that no matter what, even on the bad days that you won't give up. They are worth it and so are you. Keep fighting, keep being heard. Sorry for rambling but I think it is so important to share our story and hopefully it gives hope to those facing the same sort of struggles.
Now the next blog on the hop is the amazing Mindy Backes, I know she will have something fun to share with you!

Beautiful card for your lovely daughter. I too had a daughter who had some learning challenges, she worked very hard and became an awesome elementary school teacher. We never stopped encouraging her and standing by her to always do her best.

She is so gorgeous. I have really enjoyed this challenge of "for the family" as I am learning a little more from some of the team mates.
