Fancy Friday- For the Love of Designer Series Paper

 

Welcome back to the Fancy Friday Blog Hop! We are a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators that have been or are currently on the Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team. We love sharing our passion for creating with all of you and hope to inspire along the way. 

This month's hop is all about Designer Series Paper. Now, anyone who is familiar with my paper crafting will know that I am a lover, a user and also a hoarder of pretty paper! Our challenge this month focuses on using up those gorgeous patterned papers, so that is exactly what I did. I will admit that I had a very hard time choosing what DSP to use but ultimately I decided to go with the Tea Room Specialty Designer Series Paper. This gorgeous paper is retiring and only available until June 3rd or while supplies last so I wanted to give it one more time in the spotlight.

The wonderful thing about this particular pack of DSP is that it comes with 24 sheets, 4 of each double sided designs and it is a little more light weight than the regular DSP, making it perfect for creating envelops with it. I made the envelope using the Envelope Punch Board, this is such a perfect and useful tool that will be retiring from Stampin' Up! on June 3rd, so if you don't have one yet you should get one, I promise you won't regret it!

There are so many options when choosing what pattern to work with, so I figured why not work with several?! TIP: Do not be afraid to mix patterns together, the key to this is using patterns that do not compete with each other and when in doubt florals and stripes always work! For the main image I inked up a new amazing set that will be debuting on June 4th in the new Stampin' Up! 2019-2020 Catalogue. It is called Butterfly Wishes and also coordinates with the Butterfly Duet Punch. I added a little (well maybe a lot) of Wink of Stella to really make the pretty butterfly shine.

A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop - Hugs From Shelli

Hi everyone! I am so excited to share with you today that I am participating in a blog hop with some amazing stamping friends. This hop focuses on Stampin' Up's awesome Paper Pumpkin Kit and we will all be showing you alternate project examples using elements from May's Kit. 

The kit this month was designed with the help of Stampin' Up's very own co-founder Shelli Gardner. Shelli always has had such a beautiful design aesthetic, usually lots of vintage elements, soft neutral colour tones, lots of layers and texture. This kit is certainly true to her style and I had so much fun coming up with my projects.

 

For my projects I used several elements from the actual kit, including the stamps, 3 of the note card designs, embellishments, labels, threads and I even repurposed the tissue that the kit was packed in.  I created a cute little 3x3 card and a coordinating mini pizza box.

For this card I started with a 3x3 base and added on some Crumb Cake card stock that had been sponged and distressed around the edges. to add some texture I used the White Embossing Paste mixed with a few drops of Champagne Shimmer Paint and applied it over one of the masks from the Pattern Party Decorative Masks sets. Then came the fun part-adding all of the layers! I sponged one of the labels from the kit with Petal Pink Ink and layered it on top of a vellum feather.  I then took some cut strips of patterned paper from the note cards, adding some pleated tissue paper that had been fringed with my Paper Snips. A fussy cut stamped bird image was covered with Wink of Stella for some added shine. And then of course a little bit of linen thread and a few pearls to give even more texture.

The Mini Pizza Boxes are the perfect tiny gift package for a special little gift. What I really love about them is that they are easy to customize and assemble. The boxes are all white which make it easy to colour to whatever you want. Using Petal Pink Ink and a sponge Brayer I coloured the whole box, then stamped on the sides on the outside. The top was decorated using the cut up note cards. I matted the main bird's nest image on Silver Foil to compliment the silver foil labels in the kit. The adorable little eggs were coloured using Pool Party and topped with Wink of Stella because there is no such thing as adding to much subtle shine! then came the layers and sentiment.

Here you can see how I used some more of the tissue paper for the inside of the box. I stamped the feather image using Early Espresso ink, this is a great way to dress up the inside of the box as well. And bonus - the tissue paper gets reused and looks pretty too!

Artisan Design Team May Blog Hop- Carry Over Event

 

Hello everyone and welcome back to another Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team Blog Hop! We are a group of 16 Stampin' Up! Demonstrators from around the world, that were chosen to represent Stampin' Up! over the course of the 2019 year, through blog hops, Facebook posts and corporate blog posts. Each month we will be be focusing on a particular set of products to bring you inspiration from around the globe Stampin' Up! style. 

This month's hop is a little different than previous ones as we all got to choose what we created with for this Catalogue Carry Over Event. Each Design Team Member worked with a stamp set or sets that is carrying over from the 2018-2019 to the 2019-2020 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue. May is a month of change, Spring has sprung, flowers are in bloom and Stampin' Up! is saying good bye to many of it's previous products and is getting ready to welcome a brand new catalogue launching June 4th. We wanted to highlight items that are available now and will still be available to purchase in the coming year. As demonstrator it is hard sometimes to plan classes around products during this transitional time but we were up for the challenge! During this hop you will see what all 16 of us have planned for our upcoming classes and you will find such an amazing variety of ideas and inspiration.

May is also a month that I know I and others will need to be thinking about and sending out thank you cards and little gifts of appreciation. Remembering those coaches and teachers as well as others that we want to show our gratitude for. That is why I chose to work with the A Big Thank You Bundle. 

When creating my projects I kept in mind that there were both women and men that would be receiving these tokens of thanks, so I figured a bright, fun colour selection would be sure to bring a smile to anyone's face! I selected colours from the Brights Colour Collection and chose Poppy Parade, Mango Melody, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Bermuda Bay and Gorgeous Grape for my rainbow palette. Along with the stamp set bundle another main product focus for this class are the Stampin' Write Markers.

These markers are water based and can be used in so many ways. The cute little thank you tag was created using a stitched die cut circle, then stamped on with Whisper White Craft Ink. The main focal "Thank You" is showcasing how these markers look when activated with water. TIP: Scribble colour down onto watercolour paper and mist using a Stampin' Spritzer. Let the water absorb a little and the colours run into each other, then blot excess water off with a paper towel.

The Kraft Pillow Boxes are perfectly sized for a small treat or can even house a credit card sized gift card. They are quick and easy to dress up, all I added here was a die cut tag and some Baker's Twine. TIP: Create multi-coloured twine by colouring white twine with the markers. Place twine on scrap paper or a window sheet, turn the marker on it's side and run the side of the tip along the twine.  Stampin' Write Markers are also great for creating a multi-coloured stamped image by simply colouring the marker directly on to the stamp and then stamping onto the paper.

This card was quick and easy to create using strips of card stock in the chosen colour combination. TIP: Layering strips of card stock on top of one another on an angle or nonuniform way, helps to add interest to a project. To create added texture use a bone folder along the edge of the paper to break up some of the fibers. 

Here is another quick and simple card that would be easy to mass produce. Once again I used the Stampin' Write Markers to colour directly onto the stamp. They are a great economical way to get several of the Stampin' Up! colours all at once. Again I kept with the rainbow order. TIP: When working with an abstract stamp image to create a background, such as the lines here, stamp at different heights or on an angle. this helps to create depth.

Free As A Bird Mother's Day

It's the same story for me every year in May when it comes to my paper crafting goals; use up the paptterned papers I have been hoarding and focus on inking up those stamps sets that will be retiring from the Stampin' Up! Catalogue. Now as a demonstrator I was able to get my hands on some upcoming new items that will be released in the 2019-2020, however I have been really good and set my preorder aside, until now.

TGIF Challenges was the perfect excuse to pull out a fabulous new stamp set called Free As A Bird. It has beautiful imagery, fresh fonts and useful phrases. For my card I combined it with the "Happy Mother's Day" from the Strong and Beautiful set. 

For my card I mixed some old with the new, and even managed to use up some DSP! The Petal Promenade Designer Series Pager is full of gorgeous floral on one side and more neutral patterns on the other side, like the bokeh shown here. I love stamping on my DSP, it can create added interest and depth to your background. 

The colour combination of Petal Pink, Pool Party and Crumb Cake was perfect for creating a pretty feminine card. I stamped the main image on Thick Whisper White card stock and coloured with my Stampin' Blends. The birds were coloured using a combination of the both light and dark Crumb Cake and light and dark Petal Pink. I start with my darkest colour first then blend in the lighter then continue to add until I get the desired depth. I stamped the flower and leaves on a scrap piece of paper, coloured them and fussy cut them out. TIP: Use the Stampin' Blends Colour Lifter to remove colour and create highlights in the image. 

I love the Very Vanilla Lace Trim and will be sad to see it go, but no worries as there are some really amazing accessories coming out in the new catalogue available June 3rd. I used it here to add texture and finish the edges of the DSP, TIP: Tear & Tape adhesive works perfectly to attach ribbon to any project.  I love the way it just adds a little something extra. A few Share What You Love Artisan Pearls help to finish it off. The sentiment was stamped using Stazon Ink on Vellum Cardstock, I chose Vellum as it creates a softness and doesn't break up the overall design.

This 6x8 scrapbook page utilizes several of the gorgeous printed and foil die cuts. They are perfect for layering and make it quick and easy to add embellishment clusters and the various labels are sized perfectly for stamping several of the sentiments. The Rose gold Foil sheets cut like butter with the Everything is Rosy Dies. Even the intricate border was super easy to cut and remove from the die. The tiny little floral stamp was inked in Night of Navy Classic Ink and created a perfect background for the page and the beautiful photo of my little sister from her wedding this past summer.

The Everything is Rosy Designer Series Paper is double sided, one side has gorgeous rose gold foiling and the other side has a variety of neutral patterns and colours. For this card I backed a piece of DSP on to some rose Gold Foil. The beautiful Rose Gold Shimmer Paint makes pretty splatters. Tip: By simply using an Aquapainter and flicking the paint on the paper you can create a variety of splatters in various sizes. For this card I focused on the stamps and coordinating metal dies. The leaves were stamped with Shimmer Paint, using a Sponge Dauber I inked up the stamp and then stamped it directly on Whisper White cardstock. The flowers were inked using Blushing Bride, Night of Navy and Melon Mambo Classic Inks. Tip: For the Melon Mambo flower I first inked it in Blushing then rolled it in Melon Mambo and blended the two colours together on the stamp using a Sponge Dauber. This helps the colour transition better and doesn't create a hard line between the two colours. 

I love the cute little Mini Pizza boxes. They are all ready to decorate anyway your heart desires and make the perfect packing for a small gift. All of the patterns of DSP in this medley of products are amazing, but I think this might be my favourite. Some cardstock, foil, die cuts and the stunning Rose Gold Edged Night of Navy Satin Ribbon was all it took to create this adorable little gift package. 

 I am someone who loves, adores and uses DSP, but sometimes it is fun to create my own background using Stampin' Up! products and that is exactly what I did for this card. Using ink pads and an Aqua Painter I created lines on Watercolour Paper, now remember if you decide to try this, there is no right or wrong way to do it, you are not looking for perfect lines. I then splattered on some shimmer paint using the same technique as mentioned above.  I sometimes like to add delicate layers behind my die cuts and Cardstock Vellum works great for this. Tip: The Starburst Punch is one of my go to punches for this, but I felt it was a little big for what I wanted, so I just snipped out about a 1/2 inch from the middle and placed the pieces behind the label. The flower and leaf were also stamped on Watercolour Paper and I used an Aqua Painter to spread the ink, helping to soften the colours.
