A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop - Winter Woods

I am so happy to be back hopping with my incredibly talented friends from the A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop! We are a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators that love to think outside the box and come up with inspiring alternate samples using the current Paper Pumpkin Kit.

This month we are showcasing alternatives for the October Winter Woods Paper Pumpkin Kit. I just love how these kits come jam-packed with products and so many possibilities. This kit features a nature-themed, watercolor scene evoking a crisp, cold winter afternoon. Just add trees, birds, snowflakes, and a stamped sentiment!

I will admit, I have never been one to follow directions so I always have so much fun coming up with alternatives. This time I stuck pretty much to elements in the kit and just added in a few things. It is very rare that I ever create a card that doesn't have some type of ribbon or twine, I love how they add texture to a design and help step it up. Here I took the preprinted card base and tied some gorgeous Seaside Spray Metallic Ribbon around it. I then die cut the center tree image with a circle from the Stitched Shapes Dies from another card base. Then popped it up with Dimensionals to create a spotlight effect.

To highlight the snow I used the pretty Shimmery Crystal Effects along the boughs of the trees. I absolutely love how it creates a subtle shimmer and glossy dimension. The precut little bird and stamped the same image over top of it using the gorgeous Delicata Metallic Ink in Gold. I also used this ink to stamp the sentiment then stamped it again using Night of Navy Ink to overlap. In my book, you can never have too much shimmer, so I splattered on some Frost White Shimmer Paint as well.

Fancy Friday - Annual/ Holiday Mixer

Welcome to the Fancy Friday Blog Hop! I am so excited to be back stamping with my fancy friends! We are a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators that have been or are currently on the Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team. We love sharing our passion for creating with all of you and hope to inspire along the way. 

This month we are mixing things up by showcasing products from both current Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue and the 2019 Holiday Catalogue. When new items come out it is hard not to get caught up in all of the shiny new things, so this is a great challenge to not forget about all the other great products. I focused on some of my old favourites and combined them with some new ones.

I thought it would be fun to use the amazing See A Silhouette Designer Series Paper (Annual Catalogue) on a Christmas card. It is one of my absolute favorite paper packs and I paired with a new favourite the Christmas Gleaming Bundle (Holiday Catalogue). I also used The Basic Pattern Decorative Masks, Snowflake Sequins and Seaside Spray Metallic Ribbon (Holiday Catalogue) and the often forgotten Frost White Shimmer Paint (Annual Catalogue)

Using one of the decorative masks and a Sponge Dauber I inked Night of Navy on to the cardstock to create a tone on tone background pattern. The mask was also also used with Embossing Paste directly on to the patterned paper. Using an Auqa Painter I flicked on some of the shimmer paint and also sponged it on top of the embossing paste. 

The ornament was stamped using Night of Navy Classic ink on to Shimmery White Cardstock. To create a watercoloured look to the image, I used the aqua painter with a small amount of shimmer paint and lightly blended the ink. I also stamped the ornament twice on Whisper White and die cut it using a circle from the Stitched Shapes (a must have from the Annual Catalogue!) then place another circle cut from Vellum Cardstock on top.

Artisan Design Team October Blog Hop - Holly Jolly Christmas

 

Hello everyone and welcome back to another Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team Blog Hop! We are a group of 16 Stampin' Up! Demonstrators from around the world, that were chosen to represent Stampin' Up! over the course of the 2019 year, through blog hops, Facebook posts and corporate blog posts. Each month we will be be focusing on a particular set of products to bring you inspiration from around the globe Stampin' Up! style.

This month the team is focusing on amazing product bundles from the 2019 Holiday Catalogue. I had the pleasure of working with the Jolly Holly Christmas Stamp set and Die Bundle. I went away from traditional Christmas colours and decided to create some projects with a vintage feel. 

For my card I started with a base of Soft Suede Cardstock, then layered on a piece of Seaside Spray DSP that had been distressed along the edges and sponged with Soft Suede Ink. The next layer is a piece of DSP from Woven Threads. To create a fun textured background I used the brick patterned stencil and Embossing Paste. While the embossing paste was still wet I pressed some Ice Stampin' Glitter into it. This helped add more texture. I also applied some Shimmery Crystal Efffects along some of the bricks and added more of the glitter to create a more chunky concentration. The adorable Santa was stamp using Early Espresso Ink then watercoloured using an Aquapainter and various ink colours and die cut out. TIP: Stamping the Santa in Early Espresso creates a softer outline, but because it is a waterbased ink it with activate when colouring with water. Try not to colour to close to the edges. The new Snowfall Puff Paint was the perfect product to use along the edges of Santa's suit and hat. 

Of course I had to create cute little Christmas tags as well. The Delightful Tag Topper Punch makes creating tags a breeze and Brick & Mortar 3D Embossing Folder gives an amazing impression. Whisper White Craft Ink was sponged on the tag to help bring out the impression and add to the vintage feel. The stocking was watercoloured the same was as above and I stamped and cut apart the sentiment. Tip: Combining different ribbons helps to add interest and texture. Here I used both the Scalloped Lace Trim and Woven Threads Trim then tied them together with Linen Thread.

For this tag I utilized one of the die cut word from the set. I love how quick and easy dies help a project come together. I cut it from both Fluid Watercolour Paper and Basic Black Cardstock. Again using classic inks I watercoloured the die cut then backed it on to the black one to create a "shadow" and help it stand out more. I am really loving the Ice Stampin' Glitter and used it along the bottom to achieve a dipped effect. TIP: When using the Stampin' Glitter adhere it with the Shimmery Crystal Effects. Not only does it dry clear, the subtle shimmer helps add to the look.

I created a trio of projects using all of the products in the suite. These will definitely remain out on my desk for a lot of my holiday crafting this season. It's so easy to put beautiful projects together in record time when everything coordinates!

For this card I focused on the gorgeous DSP using three different patterns. That's right, I said three...can only spot two? Well, that bold beautiful flower is actually die cut from one of the papers! Yes, the die cuts out the DSP as well. I love it when that happens as it makes creating even quicker and I am all about that! You might even say I am a bit of a lazy stamper;) TIP: To add some more dimension to the large rose image I did fussy cut the center from another flower and added on top.  

I am always looking for cute packaging to give little gifts in and the Kraft Pillow Boxes are perfectly sized for just that! However for my projects I wasn't using Kraft in my colour scheme so I recoloured the box Cherry Cobbler to match. TIP: Here I used Cherry Cobbler Classic and a Sponge Brayer to colour the pillow box. I inked up the brayer and rolled it over the top of the box working my way down, reinking as needed. This creates a perfectly uniformed colour.

And what would a Christmas gift be without a pretty little gift tag? I created this tag using several of the die cut shapes included in the Roses Die Set. The base of the tag was die cut from Thick Whisper White and then again from DSP, this helps give the tag weight and a blank area on the back to write. TIP: Here I used dark Early Espresso Cardstock and heat embossed the sentiment. Heat embossing not only helps to add texture and elegance to a project but it also really "pops" against the darker coloured cardstocks.
