Welcome back to another challenge at The Spot , your place for inspiration and weekly cardmaking challenges. This week we have a wonderful sketch challenge! Sketches are a great way of jump starting your creative process and let's face it with everything going on right now, creating is a fantastic way to decompress. I hope you can find the time to join us, we love seeing you wonderful creations.
I am sure like most of you, I am longing for and dreaming of a sunny tropical getaway and since travelling is out of the question right now the next best thing is playing with the Tropical Oasis Suite of Products. I used the Designer Series Paper, Memories and More Card Pack, Stamp and Die Bundle, Trinkets and Burlap Trim.
I let the gorgeous large pineapple die be the star of the show for this card. I love playing with different textures and patterns so I die cut two patterns from the Tropical Oasis Designer Series Paper and lightly sponged them with ink. TIP: Sponging DSP and cardstock with ink using a Sponge Dauber helps to add depth and interest. The Soft Suede pineapple layer was sponged with old Olive and Soft Suede and a little bit of Mango Melody Ink. the leafy pineapple top was sponged with Old Olive and a small amount of Soft Suede.
To create the bottom portion of the pineapple I took a scrap piece of Daffodil Delight Cardstock and lightly sponged it with Mango Melody, Soft Suede and Old Olive. Next I glued the sponged die cut onto the paper then trimmed around it to create a more realistic looking pineapple. I used elements from the Tropical oasis Memories and More Pack to help pull this card together. The die cut heart stickers make the perfect accents and I used a word sticker for the sentiment. The background main layer is also a card from the pack that was cut down to 4"x 4" and stamped with one of the floral images in Pool Party Ink.
Now be sure to check out The Spot for some fabulous inspiration and we would love to see you join in on the challenge! Below you will find all the items I used for today's project and as always feel free to contact me with any questions!
