The Spot #130 - Love of Leaves

 

Welcome back to another challenge at The Spot, your place for inspiration and weekly cardmaking challenges. This week we have a great sketch challenge and would love to have you join us!

Sketches are such a great jumping off point to get your creativity going, and trust me I could really use the help this week! After not stamping or feeling creative at all for the last couple of weeks, this was just what I needed to finally ink up the gorgeous Love of Leaves Bundle. I was feeling all the fall vibes and pulled out Merry Merlot, Crushed Curry, Old Olive and Cajun Craze Classic Inks. 

I started with a card base of Thick Whisper White. The main layer is Shimmery White Cardstock and I embossed it with the stitched portions of the dies from the bundle, then splattered some ink from both the Crushed Curry and Merry Merlot Stampin' Write Markers by flicking the brush tip of the marker against the lid.

 

The leaves were created from Fluid 100 Water Color Paper. Using a water brush I wet the paper first then added on all 4 colours, letting them run into each other. To help speed up the drying process I grabbed my Heat Tool, this also helped push the colour around, creating a cool watermarked effect. The leaves were then die cut from the paper. 

 

To add even more texture to the card I added in a little double bow of Linen Thread and pleated some ribbon.

The Spot #128 - Colourful Celebrate Sunflowers

Welcome back to another challenge at The Spot, your place for inspiration and weekly cardmaking challenges. This week we have a fun colour challenge and would love to have you join us!

 

The moment I saw these colours I immediately had the warm feeling of transitioning into fall. I chose to highlight the gorgeous Celebrate Sunflowers Bundle and used the Gold Foil Sheets for my metal.

Crumb Cake is such a versatile colour and the perfect neutral. Here I used it as my card base then also embossed a layer with the Pinewood Planks 3D Embossing Folder. To add more interest I also added some Whisper White Craft Ink and created a subtle white washed effect, them matted it with some Bumble Bee Cardstock. 

The big bold sunflower was stamped using StazOn Ink on Shimmery White Cardstock. Using a Water Brush I coloured it in with Classic Inks. I started with the Bumble Bee first then added in the Merry Merlot at the base of the petals working it up and outwards. The center of the flower was coloured using Soft Suede. A few leafy sprigs were die cut from Gold Foil Sheets. To really make the sunflower shine Clear Wink of Stella was added for a soft shimmer.

The sentiment was stamped on Shimmery White Cardstock and I added a light wash of Crumb Cake Ink then punched one of the ends with the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch to create a tag.

TGIF #280 -Colourful Peaceful Boughs

 

It's Friday and that means another great challenge on the TGIF Challenges Blog!

This week we have a fabulous colour challenge! I just love these colours separately and together, so the ideas started swirling, but I finally settled on creating a non tradition Christmas card. 

The gorgeous Peaceful Boughs Stamp Set and coordinating dies are still a favourite go to for Christmas cards. So beautifully elegant and works perfectly with just about any colour combination. 

I started with a Soft Suede card base then took a piece of Blushing Bride Cardstock and embossed it with the Old world Paper 3D Embossing Folder. I just love the texture it adds to the paper. By sponging on some Whisper White Craft Ink, I added and extra layer of interest. To create the watercolour boughs first made a large water colour wash on a piece of Shimmery White Cardstock using Pear Pizzazz Classic Ink and a medium Water Painter. I then die cut the boughs out with the 3 different sized dies from the Beautiful Boughs Dies.

Both layers of the pine cones were die cut from Soft Suede Cardstock and the top layer was lightly sponged with Whisper White Craft Ink then touched with a little Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush. A little Braided Linen Trim was added to "tie" it all together. Then a few splatters of Frosted White Shimmer Paint was flicked over the card. the sentiment was stamped on a piece of Shimmery White Cardstock that had been watercolour washed with a hint of Seaside Spray Classic Ink.
