It's Friday and that means another great challenge on the TGIF Challenges Blog!
This week we have a wonderful inspiration challenge! Right now, I think more than ever, it is the perfect time to reflect on all the things we have to be thankful for. We hope that this week's challenge inspires you to create a card or project that will help you express your gratitude to a special someone or maybe a special gift or décor item for your home to help remind yourself and others all that you have to be grateful for.
This challenge couldn't have come at a better time, I will be honest and admit that I have been in a little bit of a funk lately and it has seriously zapped my creativity. There is so much going on in the world right now that for someone like me, it is hard not to get sucked into worrying about everyone and everything around me. Thankfully I am blessed with having an amazing family and friends around me that if I need them, I know they are there. Today I was lucky to have had one particular friend remind me of that:) Sometimes all it takes is knowing that you are not alone and it's okay to feel the way they feel and work through that.
I was reminded that I need to celebrate and simply be grateful for all good things whether big or small, they deserve to be recognized. When I finally sat down to make something for this challenge, I knew this sentiment from the Country Home stamp set would be perfect! This card is actually pretty simple to make, although it did take me awhile to finally settle on an idea.
I started with my go-to Thick Whisper White Cardstock for the base then created a colourful blend of inks on Shimmery White Cardstock. *Spoiler Alert New Product coming in January: Blending Brushes! I just might of let out a little squeal when I got a sneak peek of the upcoming Stampin' Up! Mini Catalogue (just one of the perks of being a SU! Demonstrator), Blending Brushes make is so easy to create fun backgrounds. After blending the inks, I stamped the gorgeous large sunflower from the Celebrate Sunflowers Stamp Set in StazOn Jet Black Ink directly onto the paper and then die cut it with the one of the Rectangle Stitched Dies.
I stamped the sentiment using Versamark Ink on Basic Black Cardstock and heat embossed it with Whisper White Stampin' Emboss Powder. Heat embossing is a great way to add some texture and "fancy up" a project. Super easy to do, but creates such an impact. I then die cut the words and added a couple of die cut leaves and some Whisper White Seam Binding Ribbon behind it. A few Epoxy Droplets add a little shine and finish the design off.
I hope you can join us this week and make sure to check out the TGIF challenge blog for some more awesome inspiration!
