It's Friday and that means another great challenge on the TGIF Challenges Blog! We LOVE bringing you weekly paper-crafting inspiration, and are so excited to have you join us in using this week's colour challenge!!!
These bright and rich colours are not necessarily ones I automatically gravitate towards, so naturally I decided to watercolour with them. This seems to be one of my go-to techniques when working with bolder colours. I used a brand die called Butterfly Brilliance . This die is available in a stamp and die bundle is a sneak peek early release and will also be in the new upcoming SU! Annual Catlogue that launches on May 4th.
To create the splashes of colours in the background I used Classic Ink Pads in the 3 three challenge colours with the medium sized Water Brush. Using one colour at a time I generally added water and picked up the ink after smooshing in on a large clear acrylic block. Next I placed the coloured water down on Shimmery White Cardstock and began to move it around with a Heat Tool, adding more colour and water until I got my desired result. I then tied a double bow around the layering using the gorgeous Whisper White Crinkle Seam Binding.
I used the 2 of the Butterfly Brilliance Dies, the detail one with Basic Black Cardstock and the solid butterfly with Vellum Cardstock then layered them together. A touch of Wink of Stella was added to give a little sparkle to the wings. The sentiment was stamped directly on to the main layer using Jet Black Stazon. A few opal rounds were added as a finishing touch, I just love how these embellishments have a hint of glitter in them and pick up the different colours.
I hope you can join us this week and make sure to check out the TGIF challenge blog for some more awesome inspiration!
