It's Friday and that means another great challenge on the TGIF Challenges Blog! We LOVE bringing you weekly paper-crafting inspiration, and are so excited to have you join us. This week we are hosting a technique challenge featuring envelopes. We spend so much time creating special hand crafted cards only to stuff them into an envelope, so why not make the envelope pretty too?!
For my envelope and coordinating card I chose to use the beautiful Hand-Penned Petals Bundle and matching Hand-Penned Designer Series Paper (currently on sale for 15% off!).
I am always in need of thank you cards to add to my stash and as a lover of florals the Hand-penned Suite is one of my favourites from the current Stampin' Up! Catalogue. The imagery, sentiments and coordinating dies makes this bundle so versatile.
To dress up the envelope and make it just as pretty as the card I started with cutting a strip of DSP the same width as the envelope flap and just a little longer in length. I then attached it using Stampin' Seal+ then trimmed the edges to match up with the flap. Next I used a die from the Basic Borders Dies to cut a decorative edge into the envelope. I cut just enough so that the adhesive glue still remains. Next to decorate the front of the envelope I die cut some floral and leaf shapes in Basic White Cardstock and glued then on for a tone on tone effect.
For the card I started with a Thick Basic White card base then cut a standard layer of regular Basic White and did some ink blending using the Blending Brushes and Misty Moonlight Classic Ink. I then stamped the floral image on using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and added some fine ink splatters using Night of Navy and Mint Macaron Stampin' Write Markers. I then added a few strips of DSP, with the pink pattern having been die cut with one of the dies from the Hand-Penned Bundle. The floral die cut was cut from Vellum Cardstock and layered on top. A few of the cute little Loose Floral Flourishes were added along with some White Baker's Twine to finish it off.
I hope you can join us this week and make sure to check out the TGIF challenge blog for some more awesome inspiration!
