A New Ink on Life

Sweet Storytime Suite

As I mentioned earlier in this post I had the pleasure of working with the Storytime Suite products for the Stampin' Up! Convention Displays. I was so happy to see that all 6 of the projects that I made using these products made it to the display boards.

You can see that the Storeytime Suite projects are on the bottom half of the board. Here are some individual photos of the projects that I sent in. You can see a close up of the little red wagon HERE.

For this scrap page I used one of the full 12x12 sheets of DSP from the Storytime pack, the blue rectangles were cut from another one of the patterns and attached to the page using dimensionals. I also die cut the title from the same DSP.

This card uses the sweet image from Life Shared, a super cute single stamp just perfect for water colouring! The "F" was die cut using the new Typeset Aphabet Bigz Die and the word friends is from the Storybook Friends stamp set. The colour combo I used was Pumpkin Pie, Pool Party, Riding Hood Red and Daffodil Delight.

This fun little card is a shaker card that I created using the super cool Shaker Frames. Inside I put a little bit of Dazzling Diamonds and made some confetti bits by punching out the tiny circle shape in the Cupcake Punch.

This one is just a really CAS card with LOTS of white space! I actually surprised myself when I made it,lol:) I wanted to show that this stamp set doesn't have to only be coloured in. It can look cute to by just stamping the outlined image and adding some fun details like paper piecing the flag.

Last but not least is another scrapbook page that I created but this time it is totally digital made using My Digital Studio of course.

The Last of the Entries

Okay as promised here is the last of my Artisan Award entries for 2012. I had a blast creating them and I am now so ready to start sharing a whole bunch of new projects starting tomorrow! I'll warn you this is going to be a long post-feel free just to look at the pretty pictures,lol!

First up here is the other 3D project that I created. It is a My Digital Studio Hybrid project and is intended to be a bedroom door sign for a boy. My son has already made me promise to recreate it for his room-guess I should get on it:)

For those of you that may not be to familar with MDS as of right now there is no easy way to "colour in" a line image so I painstakingly coloured in the bottle of "awesome sauce" using various punches. Tendious yes, but so worth it. The good news is that on August 1st Stampin' Up! will be releasing the new MDS2! There will be an upgrade available for those that already have MDS and with it comes 75 new features-I can't wait!

Here's a close up of the medallion that I made and attached to the frame.

Next is another one of the cards I created. Rainbows are so popular right now in paper crafting and I tought it would be fun to create a water coloured one that also uses the emboss resist technique.

I stamped the sentiment on Water Colour Paper using VersaMark Ink then heat embossed it with Clear Embossing Powder. I then took an Aqua Painter and sveral different ink colour to wash the colours across the paper. The embossed words then resisted the ink.

What is hard to tell from the photo is that the rainbow piece was also light sprayed with shimmer mist so it had a fine sparkle to it. The "here's to you" was stamped on Shimmery White Card stock then embossed with Black Embossing powder and sponged over top with Bashful Blue Ink.

And last but not least is another card. I really love water colouring so that is what I focused on with this one. Plus I just love how well one of the Four Frames stamps matches perfectly with the Elements of Style stamp set.

Now I know there are alot of people out there that are not lovers of the colour Bravo Burgundy but it looks stunning with Pink Pirouette. For the colour combo on this card I used it with Pink Pirouette, Always Artichoke and More Mustard. This was actually the first card I made for the contest.

* To create the Real Red piece on top of the medallion I used the 2 3/8” Scallop Circle Punch. Once the shape was punched out I reinserted the scallops one at a time to notch out the scallop and create a more masculine shape.

* Background paper is from Downtown Grunge (lightened the opacity) and was overlaid with Hip and Handsome Overlay #9. The “Awesome Sauce” jar was filled using Square, Oval and Rounded Corner Punches filled in with Cherry Cobbler for the “sauce” and Whisper White for the label. Additional jars were stacked with opacity at 20%. Drop shadows were added to several of the images.

My Little Pumpkins and Some Fabulous Flowers

I will admit I have been sitting at home having a small pity party these last few days due to the fact that for the first time in 4 years I am not at Stampin' Up!'s annual Convention:( However my amazing friend Connie has been texting, emailing and even phoning me to make sure I do not miss out on any of the action. I think she has sent me over a 100 pictures in the last 2 days:) I have tons to share from Convention including pictures of the amazing sample boards in the next few days, but I thought I should finish sharing the projects I had entered into this years Artisan Award.

Oh and I want to send out a great big CONGRATULATIONS to the following 10 demonstrators who were announced last night as being the Artisan Design Team Members. They are going to have an amazing year ahead of them!  Cindy Beach, Jeanna Bohannan, Amy Bollman, Erica Cerwin, Heidi King, Jane Lee, Sarah Sagert, Heather Summers, Marisa Gunn and Wendy Weixler

 

This is the 3rd scrapbook page I created and is an 8 1/2 x 11 Hybrid page. Again for whatever reason I could not get a good picture of my scrapbook pages.

I created a 8x8 page in My Digital Studio, printed out and then created the title by die cutting some DSP and attaching it to the page.

I then created some tags to added them to the layout.

This card for whatever reason was one of my favourites. I just love the these flowers cut from DSP, the spritzing and colour combo.

Life is Beautiful.........

Well I can certainly say that when I posted last I had no idea that it would be 3 weeks until I posted again! I feel as though I have been traveling on a rollercoaster these past few weeks. To make a very long story short I have been having some health issues lately that have landed me twice in the ER and then several trips to doctor's offices and specialists. Unfortunately I really don't have any clear answers yet but I am hopeful that they will find some answers soon and that I will be back to stamping again! It has been killing me that I have been unable to create any new projects with all of the awesome SU! goodies that I have from the new Catalogue:(

But I do have a project to share with you today that I created a few months ago for the Stampin' Up! Artisan Award. They had made an announcement back at the end of March that the contest was changing and that the previous year's winners were now able to enter this year. That really did not give me much time to create some projects but this past year has been such an unbelievable blessing that I figured why not? Unfortunately I did not get choosen again this year as a finalist but I had a wonderful time making the projects I did submit and I am so excited for the 20 finalists that were chosen! Some of my really wonderful and dear friends are on that list so I wish them the very best in making it to the top ten design team!

This page was one of the last projects I created, it is a 12x12 Hybrid scrapbook page:

Here is the My Digital Studio page that I printed out as an 8x8 I then matted it on some Perfect Plum card stock then attached that to some First Edition Specialty DSP and then onto Crumb Cake card stock.

There is an incredible amount of layering and playing with the opacity on this page not to mention a rediculous amount of digital downloads:)

Here is an upclose look at some of the traditional products and embellishments that I added to the page:

This chipboard butterfly was covered in both Vanilla and Blushing Bride Smooch Spritz and then I added some Rhinestone Jewels. The Paper Daisy was stamped with the En Francais Background stamp. I then added some Perfect Plum Taffeta Ribbon to a Hat Pin and placed it behind the flower.

This was one of my favourite details on the page. I stamped a butterfly from Kindness Matters on Vellum Card stock then fussy cut it out-including the antennas and using a Blender Pen and some Pefect Plum Ink I also coloured a little of the wings on the backside of the Vellum. I attached it with a Mini Glue Dot then created a little flight trail using the teeny tiny pink rhinestones from the Blossom Builders Designer Printed Kit.

Lastly I added some journaling that I had printed out on Vellum Card stock and also added a fussy cut butterfly and some stamping to it.

# 1 DAD

It's Wednesday and that means a new challenge at Stampin' Royalty! This week is a theme challenge and it is all about the guys in your life. Our challenge to you is to create a MASCULINE card for any occasion. We all know how hard it can sometimes be to make those manly cards but I am sure we all have a special man in our life that would enjoy receiving a card too!

I decided to create a card for the kids to give to their dad on Father's Day.

When I made the card I designed it with the same colour scheme as the gift that we had made for him in mind. The base of the card is Basic Gray card stock. I layered on a piece of Basic Black card stock then a piece of Well Worn Designer Series Paper and destressed the edeges of both. To create the medallion I took a 1 1/4" x 12" strip of Basic Gray DSP (from the Neutrals Designer Paper Stack) and scored it every 1/4" using the Simply Scored Tool. Next I layered on a piece of Bashful Blue card stock that had been die cut using one of the dies from the new Apothacary Framelits and embossed with the Lattice Textured Impressions Folder I then added to Mini Silver Brads to either end.

The #1 was die cut from card stock using the Timeless Type Junior Sizzlets and also embossed. To give a real "manly" feel to the card I die cut the word "DAD" using the same sizzlets but this time from a piece of Wood Sheets, then sponged the letters with Basic Gray Ink.

So are you wondering what the gift looks like that this card goes a long with? :) Stampin' Up! had asked this year's Artisan Award Winner's to create one last project for their Facebook Page and we were told to create a Father's Day themed project or anything that we wanted. (you can see what everyone else came up with HERE) I am sure you guessed what I chose.  For once I have something done ahead of time,lol!

“I wanted to create something really special for my husband for Father’s Day and what could be more perfect then a personalized gift created in My Digital Studio. The kids are so excited that he can now proudly display how much he means to them. I cannot stress enough how My Digital Studio makes it easy to create special and unique gifts. I just created a page, exported it to a jpeg and printed it the size that I wanted. Then by adding some traditional elements like ribbon and paper I helped the project come to life. I cannot wait to see the look on his face when he opens it!”

My Digital Studio Inspiration

This week Stampin' Royalty is having my favourite type of challenge -Photo Inspiration! I just love how everyone can see something different in a picture and be inspired by it. Whether it be colours, shapes, images there is so many possiblities to be creative and get your project jump started. Be sure to check out all the amazing Design Team Samples-they really rocked this challenge!

I ended up creating a page in My Digital Studio, although I did have a card ready but my camera is NOT working:( I am just a little stressed about the whole situation because I do not go a day with out using it! So I am hoping it can be fixed.

Now if I said this page was a quick and easy one I would be lying,lol! However one of the things I LOVE about My Digital Studio is that you can totally take your time if you want too, experimenting with different postioning of elements and if they don't work the undo button is only a click away! I love these photos of my daughter. They are from my cousins wedding last summer and I just can't believe how grown up she is getting and turning into such an amazing, kind and caring young lady.

I played a lot with layering on this page as well as changing the opacity of several different elements. The page actually started as "Textured Garden Green Card stock" then I add a piece of DSP from Summertime Splendor as a page layer and changed the opacity to about 20%. This created the nice subtle effect  over the green with the gorgeous Gerbra Daisy flowers. I am also crazy about the Digital Tape Downloads and had to get the Washi Delightful Digital Tape that was released last month. Have you noticed that every Tuesday they release amazing new My Digital Studio Downloads?! My bank account has certainly noticed,lol!

Be a Party Animal with My Dgital Studio

It's Sunday so that means time again for another FAB challenge at The Paper Players. Today is also April Fool's Day (and my hubby's birthday) so our challange hostess this week AnneMarie, thought it would be fun to cook up a great theme challenge for all of you! Here's what she had to say-

"Well, since this challenge falls on April Fool's Day AND this month is the 36th anniversary of "Humor Month", I though it would be fun to share some smiles here at the Paper Players this week, with a Theme Challenge:"

When I first saw this challenge I will admit that I was a little stumped! I am not usually one for cutesy or punny images so it was once again My Digital Studio to the rescue!

Too cute,  right?! And would you believe the only stamping on the card is those tiny stars from Itty Bitty Bits! Everything else was created in My Digital Studio using the Party Animal Download.

Here you can see the cute little owl up close. I printed it out as well as the party hat then the cut them out using my Paper Snips and popped it up using Dimensonals. For the banner I added Mini Silver Brads and had also printed it out a second time then cut out the center triangles and popped them up as well. 

 Now of course to create the "punny" part of the card I had to finish the inside too.

I love how bright and fun this card turned out. The colour combo is Daffodil Delight, Marina Mist, Poppy Parade, and Pumpkin Pie.

Well I have got to run as there is a birthday to be celebrated and some children to contain as I know they have been cooking up some practical jokes to play on us:)

Chevron Fun with My Digital Studio

Have you ever made a project and then afterwards looked at it and thought-really I made this?! That's kind of the way I reacted after finishing this card the other night. I am always looking to different places for inspiration whether it be through blog surfing, craft magazine publications or pieces of art and photographs.

I came across THIS card by Tui Nathan a little while ago and bookmarked for future inspiration as I was totally in love with the layout (well that, and everything else about it). Also I had just gotten a recent copy of a popular paper crafting magazine and couldn't help but notice the overwhelming trend of the Chevron Pattern. So I was totally thrilled when Tuesday came around and Stampin' Up! released it's newest batch of My Digital Studio Downloads. The Eggceptional Easter Template has just gorgeous patterns and at just $3.75 it was the cheapest DSP I have every invested in:) I printed out one of the patterns on Whisper White card stock and this is what I came up with:

I know, *GASP* I made this! It has such clean and simple lines and all those circles, sometimes I even surprise myself LOL. I actually really love the way it turned out and I am finding myself wanting to explore more and more with different types of styles. I used to be afraid of all that white space but now I am trying to embrace it:) Although I really did have to stop myself several times from adding more "stuff" to it:)

Another great thing about this style of card making is that it didn't take very long to make. The ribbon flower is probably the hardest thing about this whole project and it was easily created by taking a piece of Calypso Coral Ruffled Ribbon and tying a knot one one end, then on the other end I just picked a couple of the white threads loose and pulled until I got a very ruffled ribbon. Next I just wound it around itself until it resembled a flower then put an In Colour Polka Dot Designer Brad through the center-very, very easy. To attach it to the card I used a Hot Glue Gun. One thing I did use a lot of on this card was Dimensionals. The whole Very Vanilla embossed front layer is popped up and so is the DSP circle.

Last Minute Valentine's- My Digtal Studio to the Rescue!

It is Wednesday and unfortunately I do not have a sample for this week's Stampin' Royalty Challenge, but be sure to check out what the rest of the Design Team came up with for this week-they totally rocked it!

I have been crazy busy this last week and a half and my youngest was sick over the weekend with croup again:( So needless to say there was no Valenetine's cards being made on Saturday and Sunday, considering she was sick and my other two each had a soccer game on both days!  That left me scrambling Monday night to help 3 kids come up with 70 Valentine's in total! Thankfully the youngestest wasn't having her preschool party until today, so of course I helped the other two get theirs done. ( and forgot to take pictures,lol!)

Anyway today was Isabelle's party and she had changed her mind a hundred times; like most four year olds, so this morning I decided to just CASE a really cute idea I have been seeing all over the internet.

I took this picture of her:

Did a little My Digital Studio Magic:

Printed them on matte presentation paper (I used Espon Ultra Premium).

And added a heart shaped lollipop!

She was super excited to bring them to her friends and I was glad to finally be done!  My Digital Studio was definately a time saver for this project. All she had to do was print her name on the back and of course stamp a pink heart:) I can not say enough about this programs versatility. This week at Try Stampin' on Tuesday we have another fun sketch for you to try.
